It's about time I built a new gaming rig

So my current rig is 7 years old. I know right? I've been itching to build a new gaming rig. I want to keep it under $1,200. I also want to be able to run the latest games at max setting and still get a good FPS. If you see any glaring issue please comment. Anyway here it is:

CPU: I was going to go with a 4690K but decided to go with the newer 1151 socket 6600K instead for better future proofing.

CPU Cooler: I wanted a cooler that was good but didn't look awful. Plus it's not super expensive and hopefully pretty quiet. If/when I overclock my cpu I might upgrade if needed.

Motherboard: It was either the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4 or the Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3. I liked the features the ASRock had at it's price.

RAM: 16Gb seems good for now.

Storage: SDD for windows boot/apps and HDD for everything else.

Video Card: I really like the Sapphire R9 390. I've read a lot of good things about it. I only currently have a 1080p monitor but will be upgrading to 1440p or higher soon.

Case: I like the NZXT 340's look and size. And airflow seems to be decent.

Compatibility: See notes below.

Compatibility Notes

  • Note:The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA Express port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA Express port is disabled.
  • Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.

The thermal paste is very likely a downgrade from stock. Cryorig's stock paste is definitely not worth replacing. Unless you're somehow trying to push record-breaking overclocks the Cryorig H7 should serve well and won't need to be replaced.

Oh yeah, and Corsair fans are overpriced.
