We were being idiots when trying to put the aftermarket cooler on because the screws were too small for the holes and it was sliding around while I was tightening the nuts. I guess that caused a bubble or something. Ill have to go over when he isnt busy and try again. He doesn't use it that much so we might be able to get way with it till he gets the x4 860k and a better cooler.
Awe yeah someone gets my humor :3
Well depending on how much load is on the PSU, it can short out and fry everything. If its just an office computer you'll be fine, but if its something for gaming and/or has OC components, then you should get something Gold Rated.
I myself have a bronze rated EVGA PSU, however my PC is just a simple gaming rig thats not over clocked and the CPU and the GPU are not too high end and wont overload it.
Ah the 950 is a good card for moderate gaming, the 980 TI is for ppl who like to play SW Battlefront on Ultra setting on thier 50" TV :P.
Anywho, you did alright for a first build, little improvements here and there but overall I think its good. :) +1
You might be able to run the R7-R9 series GPU in crossfire with that APU, not sure though. Good build though, hope your brother loves it. :)
Yeah, if you put a titan in there with that GPU, you might have some problems. If I may suggest, if you want to rebuild this one, get a Gold rated 650-750w PSU, and instead of the titan, get a 980 Ti as its $600 for basically the same performance of a Titan. And I have the same case, its alright for me, but I would prefer something in the $70-150 range but it works.
Very nice for a budget rebuild, however, dat PSU doe...
Oh no no no, 450w wouldve been not enough if you wanted to upgrade that 950, you never want to fully load a PSU, I have an EVGA 600B and my system takes about 200-400 w at load. See my response to Plunder above for why alot of ppl don't like them.
Thanks for the tip on the cooler though, ill change it now ;)
Fire at will Commander.
Many ppl have had problems with those CX PSUs, they are more suited for office builds, and some have said they fail due to it being rated as a lower tier PSU. Id upgrade to maybe something Gold rated for s PC that has a anything with good hardware in it as if the PSU fails it can ruin everything.
I wanted to build that list as a project for a merit badge, however my parents didn't need ANOTHER computer. Ill build that when I finally get a job, as a mini itx college dorm PC
Wasn't my money to spend, however he is slapping himself for it now. Ill get him to upgrade it in April when I upgrade.
How bad is it? Should I liquid nitrogen cool it? :P
No, I just shared my AM3+ build though, Im more into Intel then AMD.
When both GPUs cost twice as much as your own build.... :|
Nice build though! +1
Ooooooo, that would be awesome
While you were typing I changed it, I read your mind! XP
This is what I had in mind, might change the HDD to 1TB when they go back down to $39.99
You're going to get alot of flak about that CX PSU btw.
I just looked at it. See the thing with Intel is that their chips don't run as hot as AMD, thats why I prefer them over AMD, however this build was to try out AMD as ive done far more with Intel then AMD.
Yes, I noticed that the CPU was running hot and it would jump up every 10 sec to 60 and slowly go back down to 50, he does not use the computer too often so I told him to spend the extra money in a couple of weeks when I go to upgrade my PC to get a better cooler.
I love the monitor setup, looks very professional, and the LED's too, those are awesome with the rainbow colors! +1
The AMD 5350 actually makes a good CPU for a mini ITX workstation, LAN Box, light gaming system, or HTPC. I might build myself something with it for the lulz in the future.
But if you win and your custom parts are just for the looks and doesn't go over $2,000, is it ok? Like I have $60 in a backplate and fan grille which would be optional, do those count?
Ah ok, was just wondering. :)
I really like the case and the red theme, very nice. Also is there a dust filter for that fan next to the PSU in the last picture? I feel it would suck up all the dust and spew it into the case unless its an exhaust fan.
Nope, don't really follow football, I just watch the Super Bowl for the food and the Commercials ;)
It does, I do plan on replacing it with an i5 though because it will struggle to run more then a couple of things at a time, and some games in the future might require more then 2 cores. But I like it and I will keep it for future use!
Honestly, I just realized after reading your comment over about 10 times you were talking about football! XD
I actually picked the name from the GPU because I hadn't really seen ppl use it much, but I see where you're coming from :P
Very nice, I really like the Mini ITX idea. All I know is that after this contest is over, when I get a job, I know exactly what I'm doing with the first $2,000 worth of paychecks :P
I'd buy everyone thier dream builds that submitted their lists for the MSI Contest. :) Im pretty sure MSI would approve... sales would soar :P
21 and 3/4ths? Jk :P
You forgot the thermal paste. :P
Its the effort that counts... and a downpayment to a house...
