No, it was screwed in. The only downside of this cooler is that it's an absolute pain to mount. Had I just used thermal paste I think it would have fallen off pretty quickly!
2x front, 1x rear
This is utterly, utterly insane. Must weigh a ton.
I...I think I need some new underwear.
This is beautiful. I love the black/white colour scheme. The liquid cooled bit of the motherboard scares me though.
This [Redacted] machine is [redacted] brilliant. That [redacted] cable management...
I...I think I need to change my underwear.
and the award for "longest title" and "most pictures" goes to...this one!
I am loving that color scheme and the case...but then again I do have ahem something for red and black builds.
This isn't a Hyper 212 Evo..
Six and a half thousand pounds...of which £5,500 on the case. Erm?
It's a drool-worthy PC, and +1 for the write-up, but what's it actually going to be used for?
This is superb. No fan grille on the rear, though? And with two rads and two fans how noisy is it?
A good first build. Not heard of the CPU cooler before, any good?
Also some internal pictures would be good.
I was going to question why you went for liquid cooling for the CPU but that's a LOOOOOT of cables squashed into the body which would restrict the airflow. Big fan of the Athlon X4 8xx-series cpus, decent price/performance.
a slick, good looking build. What cost more, the PC, or that monitor stand on the left? ;)
"I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide"
NEEDS MOAR PICTURES!
Ah I see, sweet!
+1. It's cheap, it's cheerful, and you get a nice keyring out of it. Come to think of it glances at spare core 2 duo
I've not seen so many red lights since my last trip to a particular part to Amsterdam (joking, I spend all my money on my PC).
That CPU though, dear god - cost more than my RX480 and FX CPU...
Dear god man, how many fans do you need??!
This is a nice looking case, that's for sure, but I'd want the fans in red to match the motherboard and cables.
For me, this has to be one of the oddest cases (can you call it a case? everything so so exposed) on the market. That said, you've obviously spent a lot of time and money on this and it looks very cleanly done. I wonder how much of a pain it is to keep clean, however!
I applaud the GPU choice, but you could do with tidying the wires a bit more. Also, the combination of the green, red, and blue lights would irk the hell out of me :(
I thought it looked tidy, then I realised there were no cables and no GPU. I'd love to see some pictures of this finished.
well, this is compared to the first pc case I had, which had, well, nothing. The angled back panels are good for some cable management, and I ended up stuffing some of the unused power cables by the HDD. Previous SPEC-03 cases haven't been too bad to build in but this was dire.
Don't know I'm afraid, I only have air cooling.
go hard or go home, right? ;)
It's superb for an sub £150 card.
\Used my first ASRock board today, agree on the weird BIOS. Also the drive mounting is...interesting.
Also have this case, you can mount it at the top or at the front. It's a good looking case, highly reccomended.
Dude, this is sweeeeeeeeeet. Such a tiny powerhouse. The cost of that SSD though, hnnnng...
Love the case and colour theme, any reason you front mounted the radiator rather than the top?
Looks good, I'd highly suggest getting a SSD - the difference from a HDD is huge. Any issues with the stock CPU cooler?
Very nice. I've been stung with large RAM heatsinks not fitting under CPU heatsinke before and now I only tend to buy smaller RAM.
Nope - I'd want a better CPU cooler to run it at a higher clock because it runs pretty warm as it is.
Ah, I see. Wild guess on my part then. Looking forward to the build.
The reason we self-build, I guess, merely cost. That's a lot of storage, but it's slow disks, so probably raw video data that isn't going to be accessed that often. You've said it's going to be contating two different networks, so maybe CCTV.
Either way, I probably came across a bit too harsh and misunderstood the use. I thought this would be some core file server that the business relies on (a la Linus building his own file server), but if it's some internal thing that's not critical then no issue. Big fan of having storage solutions and service contracts on stuff - as soon as a disk packs up phone HP/Dell and have a new disk within 4 hours.
On one hand, I hate to see people "doing a Linus" and self-building storage servers.
On the other hand, all dat 4TB goodness.
Either way I'll be around for it!
For low heat generation, I guess.
The two coloured fans are an acceptable noise level, but you would hear them if nothing else was on on the room. The third non-coloured fan was very noisy and would reccomend putting it on a speed controller.
The lights are dimmed somewhat by the grille at the front - I find the brightest light to be the strip along the top (above the CD/DVD drive)
I think it's to do with the photos my phone takes as when I upload to Facebook as well they are sometimes the wrong way up. I could try and find the source file if you wanted to look at the EXIF data?
Three-and-a-half-thousand pounds. Hooooly bajesus.
Well, I guess you could live in the cardboard box the case comes in.
This one was bought from Scan - it seems that the Orange colour one isn't as popular as the other ones.
Nope, not that I'm aware of. It would struggle if I went for a huge overclock however - then I'd be better off with a liquid cooler.
yeah, that's spam for sure. there's places to promote your channel - build comments aren't it.
Case and motherboard I have on eBay currently.
I like Windows 10 for the most part, there's just some things that suck, like the search.
Don't know - probably because it was one of the first RX480 builds on the site?
Hell, my first build was basic. This is a bit more than basic, I think.
I considered replacing it with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO but I don't think it would fit in the case :D
my problems wouldn't be the only thing melting ;)
yeah, not a fan of 8.1 or 10. I might do 10 when I have to, but there's a few things that annoy me and stop me upgrading.
This particular cooler can only draw from top or bottom, not from the side. If it becomes an issue I may replace it, however, it's done well for the past two years I've had it for.
