That's the Alienware 34" GSync Ultrawide. These have been going on sale for $750 recently so I wouldn't pay more than that if you go for it. I'm very happy with it.

Yeah, I did. In the Meshify C it actually increased overall temps because less air (and warmer air) coming through the rad to the GPU made the GPU temps rise 5-8C. I ended up putting it back on top. And “quiet” is not the term I would use to describe this cooler... especially when OC’d to higher than 4.7 ghz. Maybe Noctua fans would help noise levels but I haven’t tried that yet...

No doubt you get results your happy with. All I’m saying is that you’re leaving some performance in the table. Similar to my phenom II build with an r9 card. Works way better than my old hd 6800 card but still below potential. When you upgrade platforms to ryzen you’ll realize it. Nonetheless, it’s good to see old parts still kicking and I’m glad it’s doing what you need/want. Cheers!

While I applaud the build, there's no way you aren't losing between 10-50 fps depending on game. You are bottlenecking the card.

Based on what I see in your list I’d upgrade the two monitors to one 34” ultra-wide. Newegg has the Alienware on sale for $750 today. If that’s a bit much then maybe get a 27” 4K w/gsync or approved adaptive sync or at least get a match to your better one. Otherwise looks like everything in your system is already well matched. Not much room for improvement other than going to a 1080ti or new RTX card or nvme boot drive (which will be minimal gain, tbh). Let us know what you do!

Nice build. Curious what your NAS setup is to play games off of it? All ethernet or is there wireless involved?

Have my 8600k to 4.9ghz on all cores with a 212 EVO and temps stay in 60's while gaming so I'd say it's not all that dangerous.

Nice build. Saw that EVGA combo deal and was tempted to get it even though I just did a build at the end of April.

Some cards have RGB underneath (like FTW2)where the fans are... this one does not. I use the Precision XOC software from EVGA to set the colors in the logo.

I'll have to check what I did with voltage... might have left it in auto or did a small bump... but I've been at 4.8ghz on all cores for the past month and it's been staying around 55-65C after 2+ hours of gaming. My case has a mesh front, top, side, and bottom so heat dissipation and airflow are not an issue.

Build looks good, dude. I, too, just did my first build with a lot of the same parts you chose (cpu, cooler, cpu, ssd). I struggled first time I installed the Hyper 212. Was much easier second time around. Surprised about the CPU not being stable at 4.8ghz. Bummer. Wonder if you could get there in a case with more airflow or if it is a mobo issue or if you just got unlucky in the lottery.

If I were to start over that is the exact case I would have went with. That'll be great for airflow. And, yes, the monitor is sweet. It literally is the centerpiece of any build and often times serves more than one build so I do recommend getting as good of a monitor as you can get. Look forward to seeing your build!

A few weeks after my first build in May I added a 1Tb NVMe M.2 drive and it is noticeable faster in booting and, in some instances, loading games. It was pricey but I had rewards to spend so I did it even though I really didn't need to. A side bonus is that the m.2 doesn't need sata power or sata cables so it's cleaner in the case.

I'm impressed with it! At idle it's between 30-40C. While gaming it tends to stay around 60C and I've overclocked all cores to 4.8ghz and it's very stable. Could probably go higher but no need at the moment.

Caution though...this may not hold true in other cases with little airflow... I have a mesh front with 2 fans, mesh top with room for 2 more fans (but don't have any there at the moment), rear fan, and the side of the case is mesh with room for more fans... anyway the point is that airflow in your case will probably impact how well this cooler performs. Might not do so well in a case with closed front and glass side panel.

Do most people overclock because it's needed? Or is it more because it is human nature to expand boundaries and limits?

Nice build and for a good price! Looks fantastic. What all is RGB... looks like 2 strips and maybe case fans? This is very close to the build I would have done having the advantage of hindsight now. By that I mean I would have went with SLI plus mobo and a better case.

Nice build. I have the Orion g810 and g403 mouse and am wondering how you got to sync them with the other lights.

Were you able to get away with using 1 sata power cable or did you need two?

Thanks man. It's the Alienware 34 Gsync 3440x1440 ultra wide. Got a good deal on it months back and it didn't take long to realize I needed a more capable machine to take advantage of it in gaming.

I had the same anxiety going into my first build as well but it all worked out in the end. Nicely done.

Actually just checked... most setting are Very High. Object quality, Shadow quality, and Volumetric effects are the only ones set to High. I think the reason I'm getting the frame rates I am (100 with mins around 70/80) is because it NOT a 4k monitor... it's basically 2k ultrawide (1440p).

I haven't tested all games yet but the ones I have tested run smooth on high or better settings

So far it's been perfect. Only had it a week though.

Edited my post to clarify I'm getting those frame rates on high settings in crysis, not ultra.

It's nuts. I almost went prebuilt. What saved me was the GPU dropping from $729 to $510.

It's funny because there is a number of hoops you have to jump through to get it to play Crysis at ultra-wide at 3440x1440 but once you do it's well worth it.
