If you are going to go with a video card, go with the 780. Performs about the same as a Titan. Great build though!

The 780 performs barely under a titan so one 780 is fine but you can sli it for crazy performance. I recommend getting the 780

ehh. scrap the 7870 and just get a 7850. Pick up a 256gb 840 pro (so much faster than the 840). and get a corsair cx600m for about 10$ cheaper. you could even get a corsair 500w for 30$

Read speeds they are pretty much the same. However, the 840 Pro has around 520 mb/s write speeds while the 840 has around 130 mb/s. If you are downloading a lot, i recommend you take the 840 pro.

Weird motherboard there. 990FX is the chipset you want to the 8320. also you couldve gotten a better psu. LOVE THE CASE THOUGH.

Well, nice build overall. I just have a few things to say 1. don't tell us that its for **** 2. could've gotten a cheaper processor and a cheaper mother board 3. not sure why you 5450 with an 8350 just my thoughts on it, but good job.

Comment reply on jumpman's Completed Build: Goodbye Console

If or when you upgrade your cpu to an 8350, i recommend a mobo with the 990fx chipset. MSI makes one for 120$ which is a really good deal. You will get the most out of overclocking and your components.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130677&Tpk=MSI%20990fxa-gd65&IsVirtualParent=1 This board doesn't have any usb 3.0 ports but it overclocks so easily and is better if you want to crossfire that 7870.

I wouldn't say compromise, more like choice. for an HTPC i would recommend the A8 (*not K) since it uses less power and is cooler.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Q2oW This is my build, you dont have to crossfire but you can later and the i7 is better than an i5 for video rendering editing and things like that. When your brother is able to use the computer make sure you get the same ram.

not 1866 but 2133, gskill sniper has 8 gigs for around 50$ and dont go for antec, a corsair 430 semi modular really helps with cable management. only cables you cant remove are the cpu and mobo power cables.
