I've had a 4930K, and honestly I feel unless your running 3 way / 4 way sli there is really no bottleneck with a 4790K.
waiting until a 4k 120hz monitor is out and gpu power is able to push 120fps in sli @ 4k =) which is gonna be a while. I cannot play at anything below 120hz I am now spoiled it is so much smoother. I will pick up the rog swift 2560x1440p 144hz monitor when its out.
it actually was, I had the pci-e cables to tight, was a bit lazy in retaking photos :)
I listed them up top :) but I am getting 28 or so idle and 40-45 underload and that's with the voltage set at 1.3 per card. I highly recommend EK, amazing blocks.
I had it before this motherboard :) and yes performance is slightly better with the ASUS unit I already had.
Downvoting for a title is childish, unless its offensive.
Anyways great build enjoy that 780 ti classy its a "beast"
Thanks so much!!
Well for the Z97 chipset they're is only 1 board out and it really did not catch my eye.. they make amazing stuff the last board I had was the Rampage IV Black Edition and it was great. I have heard great things about this gigabyte board leading up to my purchase and it lives up to the hype. I also love the waterblocks for the chipset already installed.
Thanks I appreciate it :) I just checked out your build, amazing stuff that color scheme is killer! + 1 your way.
I've been really interested in acrylic tubing , I am slightly intimidated lol!
I agree I can't say I didn't rush through this build.. thinking of doing cleaner run's this weekend.
Best mouse I have ever owned :) grip is awesome.. and my hands don't sweat much :D
I have listed a crossover, but I am actually using a 27" 1440p yamasaki overclocked to 120hz.
I found her inside, I named her Corsana.
overclocked to 5.2 giggawatts, consumes so much energy it leaves you drained. FPS boost is fantastic though.
I have not I was considering the 820 though, I have heard good things about both!
I have been building for about 10 years now and have owned just about every top end case these past few years (Enthoo Primo,750D,H440(mid range),450D)
This case is by far the best looking IMO the window is just gorgeous and it was a pleasure to work in. I think my favorite part is the clearance in ther back of the case to hide cables.. the first time I put it together before cable management it was a MESS behind there and the door shut with EASE. The only minor problem I ran into was finding where to mount the res as the 290x is a extremely long card so I had to drill holes in the mounting bracket as well as the case (easy!) I would recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for the laugh that was awesome.
I've had the MINI - ITX itch lately.
Should have specified the price :) I got the 500GB for 199 on ebay and the 250gb for 89.99 used on ebay as well.
Why wouldn't you?
EK makes a full waterblock for this GPU.
Whats the reasoning for that?
I actually liked the look of the Noctua fans with the rgb led strip hitting it they looked nice.
I am getting tired of the red/black builds.. I am itching to do something different and new (to me) white / black or black / green may be next.
They are hidden now :) pictures soon.
I actually did that this morning, had some free time while wife and daughter went shopping.. more pictures soon
I've had 2 780 Ti's 3 780's is still faster :) I now have 2 290x's and the 6gb 780 was not out at the time of the build.
The Wifi card is amazing, I get full signal on the 5Ghz spectrum when I would only get 1 MAYBE 2 on my older wireless adapter.
Its not pictured as it was purchased after I completed the build, also there is some changes coming this MSI board has been unstable so it is going back to newegg and I am replacing it with gigabytes black edition G1.
They are set as exhaust! I believe in the instructions it actually states to set them as a intake for whatever reason? I've had about 3 of these closed loop coolers and always went with exhaust.
Audio sounds great, but these Z22 probably don't do it justice.. new headphones are next on my list.
New pictures are up!
I promise I will get some better pictures up soon, it was about 2 am when I took these shots and I used my iPhone 5, lol.
I got them through ebay.
Item # 281055672866
I am using a RGB strip I purchased off ebay, it runs off AC power and has a remote.. I love this thing!
Item number 281055672866
Before I had these I had the reference version of the 290x.. at 100% they sounded like a leaf blower lol! These @ 100% are not even 1/4 as loud.
:D doh! Thanks.
Thanks I appreciate it, and sometimes overkill is not a bad thing :)
290x are designed to run at 95.. mine would run cooler if they didn't have a little extra voltage and a slight overclock.
I play at 2560x1440 @ 120hz and anything below 110-120 is unacceptable :)
Thanks for the suggestion! I was actually thinking about selling these and grabbing GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N Edition when it is released.
Opinions don't bother me at all, its just there is hundreds of different ways a build could be done. I am 110% satisfied with this build if you look at my log's I have done a few different ones from a 4930k 3Way 780 to this and at the end of the day this is my fav build. No hard feelings.
Also, that rig you linked is amazing! Even if I had that kind of cash I don't think I can pull the trigger on a 10,000 rig.
I just looked it up, that looks badass!
chipset is now swimming. :)
