MSI Build Your Dream PC Guide - "Speed, Strength, Silence"

Thank you for viewing my MSI Build Your Dream PC Guide.

This build is focused on speed and strength while maintaining its silence. Thank you to MSI and PCPP for the opportunity!

CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

It's a quad-core, hyperthreaded, and unlocked for overclocking. There are no compromises here. Just strap yourself in and feel the Gs!

CPU Cooler - NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

This AIO is touted as one of the most balanced options available. It's powerful, while also remaining virtually silent. It's one of the best water heatsinks recommended by SPCR. (silentpcreview)

Motherboard - MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

I have used MSI motherboards for a while now and I'm quite familiar with their user-friendly BIOS. The ATX model I selected should suit all of my needs with the option for expandability down the line.

Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

Simply put, I selected this component because I like the color match and low profile. DDR4 RAM is fast. It's so fast that the difference in its performance is almost negligible. (1 & 2)

Storage - Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" SSD

I currently own the 250GB version of this SSD. It replaced a mechanical hard drive and handily trumped it. I had the option to include the Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 SSD, but I decided to opt for the Core i7.

Video Card - MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card

Cooler, quieter, and better gaming. The fans stop spinning in low load to keep the card quiet and increase lifetime. It's pretty great. No complaints here.

Case - Fractal Design Define S w/Window ATX Mid Tower Case

I own the Fractal Design Define R5 and I love it for its silence, but it's also pretty large thanks to the extra space for the drive bays. The Define S eliminates that extra space which is unnecessary. Let's make everything smaller. I'm still uncomfortable with mATX or mITX form factors, but maybe that will come later.

Power Supply - EVGA SuperNOVA P2 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Highly efficient. Great company. Legendary customer support. Excellent unit. 750W is more than enough to power everything with the future in mind. I currently own this unit and I only wish the modular cables were flat instead of sleeved. A small price to pay to save some money on what is still a quality product.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my guide. I intend to give my current system to my parents if I win.

Good luck to everyone!
