I want to spend no more than 100. Already bought c2d and mobo for 25. I have ram sticks laying around, some fans, wifi usb stick. Looking for case, psu, and hard drive. Ill start of with a linux or ubuntu for os. But i think they will need windows for school. They'll use it for general word, YouTube, Skype, social media maybe.

Good looking build, looks like you put more effort into it. I am actually doing same thing and building a pc for my friend who just immigrated to US, but I am slightly on a lesser budget, so mostly trying eBay and CL deals. Hopefully I can try and find couple "broken" PCs and build one working PC.

You have a very lucky girlfriend, and a good parts setup. Smart idea of changing from an i5 to i7. Want to see some pix!

Looks great and clean, nice parts list, definitely not budget oriented. Is that LED module in the back of the case? If so, would you suggest something for a budget oriented builder?
