ummm yeah... you should really do your research before going off and saying a tier 2 psu is "notorious for frying" components... Besides i don't think johnny guru would rate this psu a 9/10 if it was as bad as you are saying.. i agree with cooperred, don't repeat things other people have said; do your own research to find out for yourself

i was but it does make more sense to go with an apu for that much money. As far as case wise, which would you recommend for the best possible airflow/compact size? the reason behind that is im planning on storing this htpc right next to my tv, just like a cable box sort of speak.

it's really great!.. my temps are on average 46c under full load. currently i have my i7 overclocked to 4.5ghz and it's running like a champ on this water loop, If you're gonna start with a closed water loop i would honestly go for the H100i, only because its about a 10 dollar difference from the H80i. I only got the H80i because it was an open box deal. These coolers are very easy to install as well. I've also heard that some people are modifying some closed water loop systems to work on gpus. I've yet to see it done myself but it is a curiosity i would like to attempt. Anyways, thanks for looking :D

i'm also going to have to disagree with your psu comment about the HX series. Don't know where you got your info but it's incorrect, please do a little research before stating a false claim. Guru rates it a solid psu along with hardware secrets, not to mention it's a tier 2 psu which is very good (Tier 2 Brands - Top Quality components With Top Notch Stability - For Those With Price/Availability Issues With Tier 1):

great job on your first build!...when i was 13, i couldn't even fathom how to build a pc but i knew i always wanted a sweet rig. +1 for the research and part choices, trust me when i say this.. you're going to get the enviable upgrade fever and eventually upgrade your rig to a whole new beast of a gaming powerhouse.

On a side note, it wouldn't hurt to add in a ssd in the near future... that's purely by choice... you would notice shorter os boot times and loading times for games if you install them on the ssd... try going for Samsung evos

it depends, do you plan to sli in the future or are you sticking with just that 770 you have?... the psu you provided is a 750w 80+ silver...bronze isn't bad its just the better grade you get in 80+, the more energy efficient it is... great on saving for electricity costs ;)

why go with ram at 1333mhz... the mobo is pretty low end. Why do you have 2 1tb hdds, with one of them at 5400rpm? no ssd with a case that has no cable management... the cpu, psu, and gpu are great but all the rest needs to be replaced.

that's a solid psu, anything on tier 1,2 or even 3 would be fine. As of right now to my knowledge, seasonic makes the best psu's and xfx has their psu's made by seasonic which is in the tier 1 or 2 list.. try to swap it out as soon as you can... would hate to see your parts short out due to a crappy psu

could of done so much better with the $1100 you had, you bought a horrible psu that's a tier 5 (which is the lowest). cable management is a mess, Overkill on the ram, 2x8 dual channel kit would of been fine and saved you some money. i suggest replacing that psu as soon as you can, before it frys any parts in your build. Here's a reference tier list that you can use to buy a decent psu, http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

you are correct, that psu is listed as a tier 2.. don't know why captain woopy would say such a thing, probably assuming that it would burn down op's rig because he has never heard of the brand

parts are sexy! nice job.. but the the cabling needs some work. I have the same case on my build and it's perfect for cable management. Try to route all the cabling in the back, you'll see the rubber grommets. make sure you have the back panel off so you can loop the cables from the back into the designated spots. If you need some examples just look at other's builds with the same case

I think WeActOnImpulse is just a fan boy.... I've seen him post about the 8350 on another build... Don't get me wrong it's a great cpu but not everyone goes with amd for their cpu... In fact it's actually more expensive in some parts of the world like Australia

you do know you only have two slots on your motherboard right?...so in other words your throwing away money by buying a new cpu and throwing out the 2gb stick. (unless your going with a 4gb stick of the same type of ram, making it 6gb altogether) but it makes more sense to just go with a 2x4gb dual channel set...why are you so set on an apu?....like what i said, sell the build and start over from scratch...otherwise in the end your gonna end up wasting more money than you should of to begin with...trust me your gonna be glad you did once you get the right parts together, but its your money not mine...just thought i would try to help you by getting the most out of your money
