Nice monitor set up. If you want to name it, I would nominate "seeking alpha."

If you wanted to change your mind, both Amazon and Newegg have the 8700k in stock. The price has been raised to $415 across the board.

With that wifi attena on top like that I would love to see some "Jaws" graphics added to one side. Very shark fin like :)

From the description I would nominate this builds name to be Blue Abyss. Obviously the color blue makes sense, but the "going into it with a plan", then reacting to a sea of possibilities seems almost like exploring the endless ocean... or the abyss.

Nice build by the way just got my NH-D15 today, should be building it by the weekend with the other Black Friday items.

The E-gaming did come with a wifi connection, but it wasn't a selling point for me. Newegg had it on a Black Friday sale, so it really was paying $25 more for a front USB connection and a better sound quality.

Nice write up and decision making. I was looking at the Prime-A board for my build, but decided to go with the E-Gaming for the front USB 3.1 hub. Sounds like it's worked out well for you.

Great breakdown of your build. Yes it might be a wall of text, but I enjoyed reading it and I'm sure many here do also.

I would also recommend to go with a new generation processor in the coffee lake family line. Also you said you were a student, take a look to see if your school supports a free copy of Windows 10 to save some money. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/licensing-programs/licensing-for-industries.aspx

Just got notification my two units shipped. Time to cross my fingers and hope the shipping gods carry those packages on a bed of air.

This build is like looking into a mirror on what I'm building. So oblivious nice job.

One question, why did you choose the H100i over other cooling options? I've been leaning to the NH-D15 air cooler, but just saw the H100i drop to $85 for Black Friday. Debating if it's too good of a value to pass up at that price point.

Thanks for the double tap, but Mindmixer already gave me the heads up and I purchased them. One surprising thing is that this deal wasn't advertised in their paper inserts. But good to know this community looks out for each other.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see Newegg and B&H move their prices up also if Amazon is up that high.

Sorry, should have mentioned that I'll be carrying over a 1TB HDD and an extra 250gb SSD from my current build.

You just saved me $100. Had to make it as two separate purchases as Best Buy limited it to one per order. I owe you a drink of choice if you're in the Knoxville, TN area.

Good article about RAM speed with the 8700k. Thanks for the link.

In regards to the 1k watt PSU, it's already been purchased as I got a discount from a friend before he left Frys.
