Wrong, play AC origins with fps cap removed and you will see the difference, most games just dont load up cpu much these days, doesnt meen cpus are equal in gaming.

Im in the same boat, got grey/yellow zotac 1080 amp in my red build.

I agree 2700x should not bottleneck RTX2080, but you make it sound like 2700x=8700k in gaming, not true

Tip that may help you with 5Ghz on 8700k, use manual vcore, not offset or adaptive, I have mine at 5Ghz @ 1.33v vdroop at 5 or 6 (not sure) super stable, I tried many times to use offset or adaptive vcore for 5Ghz and 1.36v-1.37v still wasn’t stable. Btw Im using aircooler right now, but I tested with 240 aio as well, cooler is not the problem, its thermal density of these cpu’s and poor heat transfer between cpu die and IHS. I found that reapplying liquid metal perfectly makes a lot more difference than using better cooler.

Great job! Very unique!

sdaasdas's Completed Build: An 11 year old built this

Good build, but why choose that cooler for that case? $50 for cooler gives you plenty great options that would allow you to overclock higher.

JackyBowen's Completed Build: My Bedroom PC build

Vdgamer 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Some things to keep in mind, air cooler might be better choice visually if you can fit one that can handle 8086k in there, black cables are more stealthy than whilte.

What happened to cable & tube management? Such build deserves more effort.

I think Zotac AMP would fit the build better than Evga FTW.

2700 has better multithreaded performance, if you need it its better than 8700k, but not by that much. I personally went with 8700k for gaming/emulation, 5Ghz delided is easy, raw per core performance is what I needed.

Awesome build, I got the same cpu/mobo/ram combo, get well I feel for you, my younger brother just went though all those treatments for tumour on his neck, he’s 18. People can wish well, try to understand but no one really can until it happens to them or someone close to them.

I have Zotac AMP 1080 and 2560x1440p 144hz monitor and I feel like 1080 is plenty for that, what do you play that compelled you to upgrade from 1080 to 1080ti with 1920x1080p monitors?

Great looking build, you can use thin steel wire to fix gpu sag, tie it to gpu in the corner next to power connectors and the other end to the case roof at the top, something like 0.021 steel lock wire will not be visible behind tinted glass panel.

ThanosCar's Completed Build: My first build (Im 12)

Vdgamer 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Good component choices, only thing I would fix is sigle stick of ram, memory not running in dual channel. Since that mobo has 4 dimms I would have gone with 2x4GB sticks of ram, still 2 more dimms for upgrade later to 16GB, you wont ever need more than that for this setup.

My setup is based on 8700k and gtx1080 as well, you will be able to run W3 maxed out with 60fps all the time, at 1440p, 4k I had to turn down some settings MSAA and hairworks.

Its up to you, since obviously some risk is involved, but it was much easier than I anticipated even after watching a few videos. I would do it again, everytime.

Chritaka's Completed Build: All-In-One i7-8700k/ASRock Taichi in a MC500M Suit

Vdgamer 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

Cool build, just to confirm 8700k is the culprit here, no paste or cooler will give you temps you want until you delid. I had the same issue when I first put together my build. I overclocked to 5Ghz easy, but was hitting 90C almost instantly vcore around 1.33v, tried different coolers air and AIO, same results for the most part. As soon as I delided used liquid metal, did not reseal the heatspreader to cpu pcb just placed it on top (some say resealing may lift IHS slightly and ruin heat transfer between cpu and IHS), my temps are 40-50C gaming, 70s in prime95, this is with Corsair H80 AIO by the way, not some amazing water loop.

EVA-DELTA's Completed Build: Solaris

Vdgamer 1 Build 0 points 6 months ago

Pretty cool build, however I have to criticize lack of water cooling on gpu's at this price point, I have Zotac 1080 amp, which has better cooler on it than reference cards, and it was still throttling enough to limit performance, after I water cooled it rarely passes 40C and never throttles and thats with max overclock, these gpu's with nvidia boot 3.0 need watercooling just to get peak performance out of these cards. If you ask me its totaly ridiculus that gpu starts to throttle at 60C, but thats reality now, reduces number of RMA cards Nvidia has to cover.
