aye.... that is probably the issue, I have not done that yet...
that's kinda what I was thinking. Doesn't make sense that it will show up in the Bios but wont show up for a storage device
Hows the H100 doing? I have a very similar build (same case, CPU, GTX 1080, etc..) Im currently running the H60, but it cant quite keep up with the temps since im over clocked, what are you getting with the H100?
how did you get the sound card to work? Im having issues with mine....
still doesn't explain why I can get audio out of the case ports, but no sound from either the MOB or sound card ports, any ideas on that?
yes, I had my head phones plugged in to the sound card, made sure it was the default, and the sound was breaking up, and seemed rather weak. plugged the head phones into the MOB jacks and swapped default and got no sound at all, moved the head phone jacks to the case ports and I have decent quality sound coming out, but that's it. im at work at the moment so I wont be able to ,mess with anything until I get home
the card appears to be fully inserted in the PCI slot, and I installed the drivers that came on the disc with it, I haven't went to their website yet to see if there is a more up to date driver yet, that was going to be my next step.
how's the H60 doing? I'm completing my build this weekend and my setup is very similar to yours, had a few people tell me to ditch the H60 and get something bigger
did you OC the 7700?
is it referring to the sata ports? basically by using an M.2 stick, you lose one of the sata ports, that's all. not a big issue unless you plan on populating each port
that's better! you'll love those really fast boot times
or you could find a better game than Destiny....
ditch the SSD and get an M.2 stick
yeah I already bought one lol
yeah im running a 7700k which will be O/C some, so ill be curious to see how well it cools
hows the H60 so far? I have one im going to use on my build
just curious why I wouldn't roll with a 1080, the 1060 or 1070 would be cheaper but im looking for top performance, being able to run any game at max setting and it look the best, aside from being in 4k of course.
1080 @ 144h for now, id like to upgrade to 4k at some point
what was the cost for that setup?
what desk is that?
I was thinking the same thing lol
there's literally no difference? I say that because I really don't know lol
yeah I already have the pro carbon, ill have a lot of fans so hopefully I can keep enough air flow to keep things somewhat cool
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RmmZM8, that's everything ive accumulated so far, just ordered the CPU and the M.2 stick this morning, just need to figure out what ram to get. I was leaning towards DDR4-3200 G-skill trident Z, but then I read its for the Z170 chip set, so that's why im asking what I should get
Im literally just down to selecting what ram to get, I have everything else lol
don't really see the issue with being in this one, as I already have a parts list, just looking for advice as to what others would pair with the listed parts.. but no worries ill move it.....
with that hardware it cant be all that fast.. just my opinion
what mobo are you running? and what temps are you seeing?
Did you over clock yours?
that's my biggest worry, is I want to make sure that the i5 wont outdate within a year, I want longevity out of this build.
ohhhhh ok, that whats I didn't understand, when I read that I assumed it meant I wouldn't be able to plug anything into the SATA ports, so if that's the case id much rather go with an M.2 over an SSD
I'm just asking because I don't know, but why should I go with the i7 if im using it for more than just gaming?
gaming, some streaming, and school work. that's basically it
I didn't know that, I just assumed the i5 is a bit older
yeah I was wanting to run at M.2, but that mother board wont allow you to have the M.2 slot populated and also have anything plugged into the SATA, so im opting for a 250g SSD along with a standard 1TB. Thanks for the info, im just gonna roll with the i5 with some over clocking
Not exactly what I'm gunning for, I was looking at it if I should spend the extra $100 to get something newer that will stay relevant longer, or if the i5 is good enough to last me a few years
the previous list you sent, is that the Ryzen and motherboard setup you'd go with?
ehhh that wont work well for me as I've already purchased most of what's on my list, the only components that I haven't bought yet is the mother board, CPU, GPU, and ram. thanks for the input though, and im open to running a AMD, but don't really want to go to a 1080ti, do you have any input on that?
Thanks so much for the advice Splatter, I can definitely save some money with going that route
Thanks! that helps a lot! My reasoning for an SSD was solely to have windows loaded on it for faster booting, and the 1070 wont have any issues running everything at max?
I see a different motherboard, and radiator, not a drastic difference, do you have any other input?
