Yeah, but this is for a friend of mine who's never owned a PC. And since I never play MOBA's I'm not sure how low we can go, since he hates FPS and RPG games. Only plays MOBAs and Card games like MAGIC.

Starting to wish I had bought some myself. I finally filled up my 1Tb HDD, something I thought I'd never do. But with all these AAA games coming out, so many take up SO much space now. I didn't expect DOOM to be over 60Gb! And I don't even have DLC for it!

I see you have a 21:9 3440x1440p monitor too, I'm guessing G-sync works well with your 3 way SLI set up? I'm not surprised that 2 wouldn't be enough, a lot of recent titles can't quite max out 100fps at that resolution, I'm hoping the Ti's will be enough, at least it will still be a huge upgrade from my 980 ti. Which titles are you having trouble in? Just curious in case I have the same ones.

I'm playing on a 1440p 21:9 monitor, I figured from what I've gathered about 1080 SLI it's still not quite enough to max out my monitor at 100fps, but maybe the 1080 TI will be. either way I built my pc for the purpose of going SLI, now all I gotta do is wait for them to come out.

27" 1440p 5ms IPS with G-sync would be your best bet. It sounds like you want a higher quality experience rather than going hardcore MLG. I feel 1440p is perfect for gaming, you can still obtain high frame rates while getting a better picture. With 4k you sacrifice a lot of frame rates, personally I'd rather my movements on screen be as fluid as possible.

I play all of Blizzards games and I have the Acer Predator, (3440x1440p, 100hz, IPS, 5ms) I can reach 100 fps on them Maxed out with my 980 Ti. so any of the Pascal cards will perform much better.

WoW looks great on Ultra Wide, but if you're really into playing other games it's important to make sure the games support 21:9, many recent titles the last couple years do, but others require a bit of work.

I can tell you that going from 60hz to 100hz is a world of difference, so going from 100-144hz would should be even more so.

Zarya (before it was cool to play Zarya). I know the feeling, I just can't seem to get back into WoW, maybe I'm finally burnt out on it after all these years. I'm going to finish doing the quests on my warrior, after that then I'll see if I stick with it.

Overwatch has been the most fun I've had since first getting into Call of Duty. I suck at sniping, but do fairly well with Ana, since I just have to hit them and not worry about head shots.

A single 1080 will play most of the latest titles at 60+ fps with mostly high/ultra settings @1440p. I have a 3440x1440 monitor and a 980 ti, I can play Overwatch Maxed and get 80-90 fps in 21:9 aspect, Fallout 4 60-70 with God Rays Off.

I would just wait and save up, get the Monitor you want and get the 1080.

Ultra wide is great for games, especially open world type ones. others like FPS aren't bad either. Though when it comes to movies it depends on whether or not the video is in 21:9. If you watch Netflix there's a lot that aren't, there's a fix for it, but you end up losing some of the bottom and top of the scene.

Think the best way to go about it is OC the LE first to see how far it can go while stable until it reaches or surpasses my 6G at stock? Then install the 6G and use MSI Afterburner and check the option that makes both cards to run at the same speed, and go from there?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "MSI 980 ti 6G Lite Edition is Overclockable?"

So if I wanted to OC an LE to match up with a factory OC'd 6G for SLI, then there's a good chance that both cards can run at the same speed? My current 6G doesn't OC very well, only +80 core/+500 memory, which from what I've seen of others is a bit below average. Which translates to a +5fps increase in Valley Benchmark.

Nice build you got there! I was so torn between that Motherboard and my current one. I think looks won out in the end, I just couldn't work with all that white. Do Corsairs fans have longer cables? I need to look those up for my upgrades I've got planned. I was just going to buy some fan extensions. Maybe add some threaded cables to make it look nice and clean. And I want to put a white stencil that says Security on the bottom blacked-out part. But the biggest part is waiting for a couple of 1080ti s if they do come out.

MB are all about the features you want. Things like x number of USB ports, M.2 slots, SATA slots, SATA e, Fan headers, Over Clocking and the like. In the end it's not going to make much impact on gaming, so go for what you want and what you think looks good!

I'm currently using a 3440x1440 monitor (x34 Predator), and it's been awesome. Some games don't support widescreen so first make sure yours do support it. Most of the new games from the last 2 years do, but others (like Fallout 4) require some tweaking. I still don't think 4k is 'there' yet, but I do think 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming.

I'm playing on a 1440p Widescreen (x34 Predator) I can't imagine going back, my 1080p tv looks so blurry compared to my monitor. You'll need a beefy GPU if you want to play at 60fps with mostly high-ultra settings. I'm using a single 980 ti and it can keep me at 60fps in Fallout 4 with God Rays on low. Overwatch, though not graphically intensive, keeps around the 80-90 range maxed out.

Just got it in today! I think they have everything fixed now. I can't find any major problems with mine. Some might complain about the IPS glow or the Backlight bleed, but I never even knew those things existed until recently, so no big deal to me. My main concern was the OCing to 100hz and the banding. It OC perfectly and I don't see anything wrong with the picture.

Going from 60 to 100hz makes a very noticeable difference, but not as much as I had hoped. And the 3440x1440 resolution looks great! Everything looks sharper!

Didn't get my auto notification until an hour later, and by then there was only one left!

I usually don't notice blur unless it's really obvious. Not even BF3 which has a setting for it. I used a graphical mod for fallout 3 that added motion blur, and that was the first time I actually seen it, helped that the mod wasn't really subtle about it.

Tearing is my biggest gripe, I haven't experience input lag in forever it seems, but that, I think, is more of a fast-pace shooter issue rather than a slower RPGs that I like to play more of.

Well I got my g-sync monitor coming in Friday. Got the Acer Predator, can't wait to set it up!

Happy to hear you still like it, so far I've only ever played on a TV so anything will be a big upgrade! There's a big difference from having a rig that bounces between 45-55fps (few times it would stay at 60) and a constant 60fps (980 ti woot!) so I imagine an extra 40 fps would seem pretty smooth to me. Luckily I play a lot of Bethesda and Blizzard games so 21:9 can be easily added or comes supported.

Yeah, EA ruins a lot of potentially great franchises, if only they'd just support them better. No more Dead Space or Darksiders for me :*(

Well I just got thru a near 4 week straight tournament, so I'll definitely have the money for it, especially after taxes come in. But I might not have any other option but TO wait since no one has it in stock anywhere.

I really want to get this monitor, but it's just more than I would pay for a monitor, even if it does have all the features I want. A few things are holding me back on buying it, one is that there's isn't much that supports 21:9, though you can tweak things to where they can, but I get tired of doing that. I'm sure the next version of this monitor will be guaranteed to hit 100hz and maybe more if DP 1.2 can even support that resolution greater than 100hz. I want to get the perfect monitor for my 980 ti, part of me just wants to buy it without a thought, and the other wants to wait for something better or wait for ASUS to come out and the price might drop on this one.

After having it for awhile how do you still feel about it?

Are you able to max out the frame rate on that monitor with a single 980ti on most titles? I figure Witcher 3 might take a 2nd 980ti to max out, but what about everything else?

That's good to know, I didn't think the current DP could go any higher either. I'd like to see them come out with one that can push 100hz without an overclock. I read that quite a few people say that 100hz is perfect for this kind of monitor, especially for the non-competitive, more immersive players, and that there isn't much of a visual difference between 100-144hz. Though having only played on a TV anything will be a big upgrade.

GPU came in today!!! Got my 980 Ti installed and have Fallout 4 ready to try it out! Wow Just Wow, I don't know what Geforce was thinking not setting this game to the max in 1080p it handles it like a champ! I think I did see some artifacts though :( I was watching the scene where the vault door opens and I saw some large white spots that don't look part of the scene. But when that was over I never saw them again, and outside I didn't see anything else. Possible graphical glitch in the game? The lights above the cafeteria tables didn't look right so maybe it's just how the light is rendered.
