This is his computer build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/fpXLrH

We have replaced the HDD with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013JPKUU2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We replaced his video card with a GTX 10 Series. Can't remember where I ordered it from or even if it was a 1060 or 1070...but that is what he has.

PS. I am his mom.

I'm not sure. My son lives in another state. I can ask his dad to check this out. Do you think it's a RAM issue or a heating issue?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Computer is freezing after playing for a little while..."

It doesn't freeze until he has been playing for an hour or two, and only if he is playing a game. That's why I am thinking it may be a heating/cooling issue.

He has 16 GB of RAM and I believe another 2 GB of VRAM, possibly 4 of the VRAM.

I am not sure what CPU cooler is in it now. My ex boyfriend took it upon himself to replace it and I didn't ask. Probably should have.

AZIO L70 Gaming Keyboard, Model No KB501

This has been in use since purchase, still no broken keys. The only issue is the "F" key's letter is less definable. The paint or whatever it is is starting to rub off. The "D" is slightly rubbing off at this point. But over all, very happy with it for the price!!

The PC is kept in one of those cubby holes in a desk. I might flip the PSU next time I crack open the case, if cable management allows. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

AZIO model no: KB501, L70 Gaming Keyboard. It's backlit in blue, and you can turn the light on or off. Azio products are pretty nice for the price. I also own mice made by them.

Madcracked!! Hey I misses you! About this guys build, it looks pretty good. It's the same mobo I have, which I really am a fan of. BIOS has a feature for a simple click mild OC. Makes it easy for those like me. As for Win 8, still, I have not heard much good. I'm hoping they will go back to Win 7 style...but then again, sometimes we must change with the times. I'm just so damn hardheaded I wont do it until I absolutely must.

Take a few pictures of the guts of it, then at the bottom of your build there should be an option I think, to post under completed build, and it will give you the options to add pictures and details. Your build looks good, btw. :)

For better speed, you might be able to get a small SSD to put your OS on instead of the second HDD. It depends, I suppose, if you really need 2 TB of storage.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Building on to an old PC"

May I suggest these, so you can take advantage of dual-memory. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmx8gx3m2a1600c9

Your mobo can hold 4 memory sticks, so you can still upgrade to 16 GB if you want to in the future.

Also, do you have an OS, I didn't see one in the build, and is the HDD in your build the one you are recycling, or one you are planning to add?

Are you sure? On my Origin, it shows it's still valid. Go to your Origin account, and go to the "STORE" option. Then hit the "Free Games" tab, then "On The House", then click the button "Get It Now". That should add it to your library.

It was actually a sheet. I did both builds on that sheet because I pushed two tables together and didn't want anything falling in the "crack", but yes, you make a good point. Lucked out so far but I better not push it...lol.

I'll run that text on my uncles PC plugged into the modem, then router, and see what the discrepancy is. Perhaps then, I will need to get a new router. I am not against getting a new router! Just don't want to if I don't have to. :)

It says DYNAMITE, gives a website www.dynamiteseries.com Hope that helps (that mouse actually broke, but I think my son pulled too hard on the cord, the cord covering came out of the mouse unit but not the wires, but obviously I can't see inside it). Before that happened though, he loved it. :)

No, it has been this slow, but when it took over a day to download a single game for the umpteenth time, I decided it was time to find a solution. I am going to try the TP-Link power line connector, see if that improves my download speeds.
