Just exchange your psu if there's a odd sound coming from it.. Do Not Open your psu, It holds a charge even after you unplug it... You can die from a psu shock.

Publish date/complete dates are wrong.

Wrong picture/case posted

Wrong ram posted, unless you really have 12 now and looking for 8 more.Just go with 8.

No hdds posted. Just post them without a price if they were free.

Why spend 15 on sweet fans, when air still can't flow due to cables?

You'll have fun with the fx6300, mines still kicking strong since March2013 without the need to OC. +1

Ouch 200 bones for mircosoftie . I bought win7 home edition on reddit for 24 bucks on my second build , no more spending 90 bucks on a OS let alone 200 .

Once the thermal paste sets your temps will rise .

Fx-6300 has been running like a dream and I haven't had to OC mine . Could have saved an easy 50 bucks and went with a cpu fan cooler .

Should have bought the ram together , buying separately will cost more .

Comment reply on Sprocket30's Completed Build: 10/18/2013 - $250 / HTPC

  • 2 points

Very true . But I must tell you in the past I've had problems with all my ddr2 ram , ddr3 not so much . So I chose the motherboard with 4 ram slots rather then 2 so if 4gb isn't enough I would have the option of adding 4gb more instead of selling my 2x2 and buying 8gb. To keep it all even. Too expensive to play the ram game .

I also looked at 2133 and 2400mhz ram to compliment the APU but only seems to be sold in kits of 8gb.

Had I gone with a cheaper board I could have gotten the price to a 222$HTPC . Thanks for the comment :D

:You might want to check out the Air flow in your case .

:My hd7770 never goes past 52-54c on full load . To see your temps at 71c concerns me . Might be a weak gpu fan , a clogged fan , air pocket in your system that's affecting proper air flow .Same with your cpu . I believe it's rather high then it's suppose to be .

:Try for starters .... removing your pc from that window (if that's where you keep it ). The sun shinning on the case warms up the insides from past experiences .Even if the air from the window is nice and cool .

:My only tiff with this build would be the 200$ , 1000 wattt PS . Bothersome yes , But end of the world NO . Your mobo supports the whole fx series so if the fx-4170 is not to your liking you can upgrade it , same with the 7770 .Ram too is a little bit overkill but with prices of ram today you could keep 8gigs and sell the other 8 and still make a profit or the very least break even . Or keep it and never have any low ram issues .

+1 for your build

:Hopefully people will realize this isn't pcpart-BUDGET-picker.com and stop down voting for expensive parts you choose .

: Most importantly enjoy your build :D
