The 480 runs just fine for games, 1080-60 has been pretty easy so far from what I have looked at, but I don't have exact numbers on hand for everything.
Right now I have Portals 1 + 2, Rocket League, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Firewatch, Undertale, Bit Blaster XL, and Trick and Treat-A Visual Novel (last one was free to play)
I'm looking at getting more AAA titles next week after I get paid again, like Dishonored 1 + 2
Sorry for no reply yesterday it was very late by the time I saw this. I love the P400s, like I said I spent the extra money for it and it has proven worth it. I can't even hear the fans on low with headphones on when I'm watching videos. I turn the fans up high when gaming though for more cooling and it can still be heard a good bit if you have game sound lowered.
As for temps I haven't looked it under load to be honest but a quick check of CPUID's hardware monitor shows maxes in the 40 Celsius range.
Not sure about that as I hadn't heard about it until now, but I still woudn't be surprised either.
Real quick I'd just like to say that according to some post I've read (forgive me for not having a link right now) that it seems that some reviews/benchmarks were apparently done with the wrong drivers.
There are a couple of websites that have their reviews with correct drivers and the results are better overall from the ones that got the wrong driver, making it closer to or in some cases beating the 980ti, in 4k that is, in 1080 and 1440 not so much.
However it seems AMD still over hyped this one sadly, and that's coming from someone who's neutral to AMD/NVidia war, but let's try to be fair here and wait to see in AMD puts out something that shows us the real horsepower in the Fury X because right now we're not getting it.
That being said I'm still interested in how the normal Fury will handle vs the 980 since air cooling means that companies will want to put their own fans on it rather than a water cooler with their logo slapped on.
Oh OK, but it's still true that mx100 will replace the 500 line I believe.
The 500s are all slightly less gigabits then the 100 (120 vs 128 at the very lowest end) and 100s are so down in cost that the 500s are made pointless.
The whole point of MX100 is a replacement for the 500-550 series I believe.
Yeah this seems to be the same opinion I'm finding elsewhere as well.
It's all good for me though as the crucial 256gb is what I plan to get, it's really great and affordable.
Thanks man, I really appreciate all the advice.
I'm already implemented some of the changes you suggested, but I still kept some things to make sure I get what I want out of it so it's like 50/50 between what you showed me and where I had it before.
Thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate it. :)
To be honest though I'm not exactly going for minimum price, don't get me wrong you;re list is great, but I'm going for a black/blue theme and the grey case messes that up.
Plus I'm not sold on that ram since I don't know that company well and want to go low profile.
Also yeah I know the 970s are selling out, but it's fine, as look as I can get one whenever I'm ready to actually build then I'm fine. PS: We should probably stop using this topic to discuss my build since that's not even what it's about. :P
Thanks for the tips and really thanks for the complement. I was afraid that since I was planning a first build that I would fail terribly.
I'm trying to all the parts for under $1500 without mail in rebates (because I don't want to deal with them) and I want to be as future proof as possible for any future upgrades such as SLI.
The only thing between me and the changes you've suggested is I'm not expert enough to know if I can get away with them and still have everything I want.
If you could verify that I can then I'll look into changing the parts you listed around.
Ah that's my fault, sorry.
What my saved build list? It's already linked up top on the first post.
Fair warning if you look at it later that it might already be changed around from what it is now.
Yeah I already changed my saved list around a bit in order to get a 240gb ssd in my rig.
Now if only I already had the cash to build it. sign
Mean people yes, idiots, eh depends.
Not everyone who complains about everything is being dumb about it.
I live in a place where anytime you kinda have to take any deals you can, because since I'm in a small town it means less haggling when it comes to purchases.
Or that you all you have near you is a best buy sigh
What I meant by saying that I thought it was unneccasaryy wasn't in a way to judge other peoples choices.
I meant I didn't understand why people would look at another persons build and tell them "that's not good enough" essentially.
I'm more worried about those people who are trying to do their best and get crapped on for it then I am myself.
I can adjust, if you look at my saved build list you'll see that I have adjusted, other people can not, and they shouldn't have their builds taken apart (figuratively) by others just for that.
Wow thanks for all the replies everybody, I never expected to get much attention to this question.
I appreciate all your takes on this subject but I'd have to say it seems like Dimwit is with the opinions that I've been reading up on.
It's cool to see that some of you still manage with 120gb though, even if you have to move stuff around.
I may have to rethink my own build now, hum starts thinking
Thanks for the reply but I'm not the one saying that I need 240. I'm with you 120 is fine.
What I'm saying is that some people have started this weird thing where it seems like they're doubling up everything that was once considered standard.
For example someone show off a 1tb and 120gb build they say get 240ssd and 2tb even though I think it's unnecessary.
Maybe it's just certain people though, i don't really know.
To: Wannabe: I have a set price but it's not exactly "budget" to be honest. It will just take me a while to gather up all the cash I need.
Also thanks for the advice and link, but I've chosen my ram now so I guess a mod can close this tread.
Still I think it's weird that only G.Skill's website list that particular ram, it's like it doesn't exist even though the other colors can be found.
Thanks for the responses you guys but I think I should say something.
1: To asesnic: What's wrong with wanting what you want? Seriously though you're right and I'm gonna look through the ram again to look at some other good options, but I really did want these and I can't find them anywhere which is kind weird.
2: To jhpcsb117: Um not to sound rude but I know those exist on newegg, in face I linked those from where this website shows them up above. It's the 1600 version I can't find, the ones in the first link, on newegg if you narrow it down enough you'll see the orange and red versions but no blue. Thanks for telling me that there's nothing wrong with 1866 though :)
