Its Windforce is £30 more in the UK than the Black.

The Windforce is 20mm longer which may not fit in some cases.

The Windforce should run cooler and possibly quieter.

Cheers, Ive got the cables out the loft.

Just assumed that there would be one in the box (theres a folded section the box that looks like it would be where the cable would go)

Was just worried that I'd been sent a card someone had previously returned.

Hi,

The drive is being visualised ok, I could even start the installation process, it just ended up looping round.

On googling a bit more it looks like for my model Dell and the BIOS it runs Dell don't allow the OS to be installed on the mSata connection that the optical drive uses.

There'll be better people than me that can answer this but given the way the button is pressed has functionality, you probably need something like this

Momentary function (spring-loaded return): The switch or contact breaker returns to its original position when the load is removed. E.g. bell push)

I'm not exactly arguing with, however for the vast majority the ultimate function of their GPU is to give the best experience for their money when playing their games.

I had a quick skim through one of the articles an it seems as if its 50% more powerful than a standard 1080.

Does it really matter if that's achieved with GDDR5 vs GDDR5x?

Even with GDDR5 memory, the GTX 1080 Ti will still have significantly more memory bandwidth than Nvidia's GTX 1080.

What does it matter if its a decent upgrade?

Sorry its not first hand information, although it does seem reassuring and offers the 390x as a comparable cheaper option.

Hopefully someone will chip in that's got first hand experience of both.

AMD is pitching the R9 Fury as a kind of turbo-powered GTX 980 - a bit pricier but a lot more powerful. It's no contest at 4K, and the Fury still dominates at 1440p - but the extent of its lead can vary dramatically from one game to the next. Also consider that the R9 390X doesn't seem to be that much slower here - and it's a lot cheaper with twice the amount of RAM...

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Computer Low on Memory"

Hi, not sure if I'm doing something wrong then

The culprit process was

**Service Host: Local System

Which at the time had 16 (?) sub processes running within it, I could expand the list and see their names but Task manager didn't break down what was using what amount of resource, it just give a total the CPU/Memory that was being used by Service Host

Hope that makes sense, is there anyway to get it to list what is using what within the sub heading?

The Windows 10 update was one of the 16 sub processes within Service Host (but as above it didn't say what it was using)

Something that wasn't happening initially as the memory was gradually increasing the CPU also spiked at 99/100% and didn't budge.

Hi , thank you

I'm not sure why but I think the culprit was Windows (10) update.

It seemed stuck on an update (my nets ***), hot-spotted my phone which seemed to get through the download and clear the problem.

many thanks

Just posting this in case you're not aware but the next generation of cards are currently getting rolled out.

So if you're in no immediate rush and can wait you will likely be able to get a better deal for your GPU either same money but higher spec or same card but cheaper price.

Also reading around, currently the 380 is regarded as better value than the 960

Corsair Hxi Series

Quiet, efficient operation

80 PLUS Platinum efficiency and Zero RPM Fan Mode mean that at low to medium loads, the fan doesn’t spin at all. And when you do push the HXi hard, the thermally controlled fan spins only as fast as it needs to.

But that’s not all. It’s quieter than most PSUs when the fan’s not spinning, too. The HXi is built with capacitors and other internal components specially selected to reduce coil whine and other electronic noise.

Seasonic Snow Silent

The power supply promises 80 Plus® Platinum efficiency, and a completely silent operation below about 50 % system load. With its smaller footprint, the Snow Silent 750 is ideal for heavier gaming systems that have less physical space to spare.

Did you get the correct revision version? Chances are if you bought it from here it's Rev 2 like my card.

Got excited there, no joy though, tried both sets of drivers (rev 1 & 2 are the same), no joy with rev 4 either.
