With all those juiced up components why leave the gpu? 970 looking a little long in the tooth. :-O

Yes it's mounted in front of the 200mm front fan. Since then I've upgraded gpu obviously - 1070 - but rest of build stays the same and more than enough power for latest titles!

It's my case! Built my main rig last Nov (first build ever) with this case - have to say I've been thinking of replacing it due to deciding it looks cheap. But glad to see it in a new build. It has a few +'s.

Sharp looking build!! Always like when do,is plan for aesthetics. I'd agree with others u might be better served by a 980, or 970 SLI which is my personal fav config at the moment, but nice build!!

$325 for gtx 760? U can get gtx 970 for that much or slightly less. You in a country where parts are very pricey? Also just the decision on 2 gtx 760 - why? Also instead of the velociraptor a decent 250 gig ssd would be cheaper and much faster. Just sayin. ;-)

I have 2 EVGA 970 in SLI with 750 watt and that has been more than enough power under heavy load.

I'd go for reference if you are going to have a window and physical appearance is important. Looks way better. And you can always overclock. I have 2 EVGA 970's myself which are fine but can't approach Nvidia reference in the physical look.

Should have clarified the comment. should have just left it at "major overkill" for this use case. In terms of prices for these components they may be fine. "Photography, some video. Web design, writing"... 'Nuff said.

Congrats on the build. Seems very adequate for your use case but I have to ask about motherboard. Why such an expensive gaming option if u aren't gaming? A $100 motherboard would have been fine for this build. Also RAM and drives are pricey and psu seems like overkill.

Haven't really checked - granny has the pc now. Next time we go over the river and through the woods I'll run some benchmarks to get temps. It's not much better than stock I have a feeling - processor was oem so didn't come with cooler.

thanks for info and thoughts

Once I customized the fan rpm to match temps in bios while overclocking, 212 evo is quiet.

Agreed on loading screens - fps over 3k for me in loading screens for far cry 4 and it's LOUD.

In terms of the coil whine beyond that, it doesn't happen at all in things like far cry 4 or heaven benchmark. In wow, I notice it mildly in garrison but then other zones done have it at a perceptible level. It's gotten better overall since I posted this. So for now I'm happy with the situation and probably won't RMA. EVGA seems open to taking the return though which is nice.

Are you using display port to mini display port cable? Or are you using hdmi to mini display port adapter, etc? I'm using dp to mini dp cable with no adapters fyi. Let me know when you get it working and what worked - good luck!

Does the imac monitor show your boot screen then it doesn't work when the OS loads? Or it doesn't event show boot screen? If latter its likely not an OS issue but could be mobo, bios, etc otherwise could be OS - never had any issues w this setup.

Incidentally I read all about this command f2 thing for TDM but never needed to do that, it justs switches over automatically when I power up my gaming system.

It won't rcognize my monitor if I don't let the Mac power up then wait about 10 seconds before powering on system - if I power up system immediately after waking Mac TDM doesn't seem to register.

Nice build. Mobo is nice price but pcie v2 which could hurt your GPU performance a bit and/or future expandability. 970 is a great choice.

Lol!! I know it looks like there are wires in the fan but promise there's a good inch of clearance there and wires are stiff so shouldn't move. Again, messy cable mgmt for sure. Worst case granny has to put up with some clicking sounds :-P
