If you can afford a 1070, you just gotta afford a better cpu (ryzen 1600). Great build tho

I feel like you cheaped out on a lot of parts just to have a 1080 for 1100. It's impressive, don't get me wrong but for 150 more, you could have gotten a better looking build (Unless you're on a tight budget then just ignore me lol). Nice build tho

Im lucky I snagged a 1080 for 560 in November right before the mining craze. That gpu is super expensive

For the best value, go with ryzen 5 2600 (Or if really on a budget production build) ryzen 5 1600. It's not the best time to build right now due to mining and gpus. Another option if you don't mind saving some money for value, waiting for gpu prices to go down, and play relatively easy titles like fortnite and csgo is ryzen 5 2400g. It's got decent intergrated graphics that are actually useful. You should however do some research and familiarize yourself with PC knowledge (Bios, Overclocking, Cpu, Ram, etc.).

Comment reply on SkyJohnson's Completed Build: My First Build

32 gb of ram is overkill unless you are into production and even then you don't need 32 gb. You probably could have gotten a fully modular for those sleeved black cables that I personally like _^ . Cable management is actually kinda important for airflow but by your pictures I think you're fine. Good gpu find and great build!

An aio is a liquid cooler and is great if you are looking for temps strictly. If you are not overclocking, raising the frequency of the cpu, I advise you not to get one as they are expensive, unless you want a cool looking system. Also building a PC right now is a pretty bad idea as gpus are out of stock and are extremely above msrp. Unless you are impatient, you can get this build and get a 1050 ti or 1050 to hold its place for now, and get like a 1070 later on when prices drop (Good valued 1070 is around $380-430).

If you are at stock clocks, you probably didn't need an aio unless you were willing to spend money for looks

This is a cool build but such a cool build (rgb and color theme) and 1050ti? Also why liquid cooler for ryzen 5 1600x, that's overkill. But still, this is aesthetically pleasing:)

Threadripper is overkill for just gaming, the cpu is used for multitasking, for gaming just get a ryzen 5 or switch to 8700k.

Why a threadripper when you could get an 1800x ryzen 7 and an x370 mobo, like a taichi? Also personally, liquid cooling is overkill for ryzen cpus. A beefy air cooler like noctua or a be quiet! is good and you could have gone with a 1080 ti with these tweaks! My personal take on this but again, this is your money not mine. And just wondering, do you use that optical drive for lots of reasons?

Comment reply on lincolnfriske's Completed Build: VR Dream Build

lincolnfriske I agree, I don't know what this guy is talking. I wouldn't spend my budget on an m.2 personally, getting b die and a good mobo is my priority. I'm not bothered by slightly slower speeds, a sata is good enough, especially samsung. Good purchase though, and if any problems arise then you can let me know!

Comment reply on lincolnfriske's Completed Build: VR Dream Build

  • 1 point

hopper344 Not the best value unless you really want high speeds and the mobo can get very hot with m.2s if they have bad temp control. And yes a blower card is considered cheap and not high quality, spend 20 more bucks and get a way better cooled 1080.

Comment reply on lincolnfriske's Completed Build: VR Dream Build

Change the gpu, this card is blower, which has bad cooling. It is cheaper but more riskier. It should be good then and btw m.2 isn't necessary.

I wouldve gotten with one sata ssd and 1tb hdd. Also I see you stream and do picture editing, so I think ryzen would have been better in that case + it might be a bit cheaper. Great build overall though.

Umm, a 1070 is a waste of money for 60fps. Get a 1060 then or 1050ti. You could of gone with a bit cheaper ram and maybe a cheaper gpu for not really a significant quality or performance drop. The bottleneck is going to be so high. You could have been a smarter person by just getting him a ryzen 5 1600 or an i5 7600k, and the performance would just shoot up.
