Don't date. Just don't. It's not worth it in high school,

I agree entirely. I dated a girl for about 4 months laster year. It really screwed up my ability to focus on school or anything really. When your mind is constantly focused on a person, and not the task at hand, it can really screw you over. By far one of the worst decisions I made in HS.

If had done the smart thing and not dated, I could have finished high school a few months earlier.

There isn't exactly a simple answer to a question like this. Most current and future Xbox One exclusives are on PC, being ported, or will be released on PC when the game comes out. A lot of games either have crossplay, or will in the future. So for a lot of games you shouldn't be concerned about not being able to play with friends who are on Xbox. It is also worth taking into account the games you currently play. If you bought them digitally then they may be part of Xbox play anywhere. So you could get them on PC without buying them again. If you own them physically you are out of luck and would need to purchase them again.

I think the biggest factor to consider is how much you would have to spend on a GPU if you sold the 1X. So how much would you have to spend on a GPU after selling the 1X?

I normally have one or two cups a day. My family doesn't often make pots of coffee anymore because of the difference in time between when my parents wake up, when I wake up, and when my brother wakes up. So I normally make a fine ground pour-over, sometimes adding cinnamon to the grounds depending on what the coffee is. I generally like a medium or dark roast. Light roasts are, at least to me, fairly lacking in flavor. Not all of them, but that has been my overall experience. A Peruvian medium roast is my go to. Decent flavor, is good black or white, and has a good scent. What I put in it depends on the coffee itself. Like I said before I am not a huge fan of light roasts, so I normally use sugar in those. Most medium and dark roasts I drink black, but some are best enjoyed with some maple or agave syrup. Not a fan of cream or creamers.

For coffee that isn't brewed in my home, well that could be an entire topic by itself about coffee chains and cafes. But I will talk about just the coffee. Starbucks... I hate Starbucks coffee. I never order black coffee from them because it simply isn't good. The "specialty drinks", which are mostly sugar and barely coffee, are fine. I like some of their teas. But most of the time their coffee tastes like dirt water to me. A couple of the roasts are tolerable at best. But if you are just looking for caffeine and don't care about the coffee itself, I guess it is okay. Caribou Coffee has a couple of decent roasts. The Obsidion being my favorite from them. Duncan Doughnuts has a decent iced coffee when you put cream and sugar in it. Their hot coffee is preferable to Starbucks, but not that good overall. In other places I have lived, there was normally a local coffee shop that had some great coffee. I did not have that in Texas. I really need to start looking into the local places here in Florida.

General Business is what I meant. Thanks, I will fix it.

At a community/2 year college a "business degree" is just a feeder degree for when you transfer to a 4 year college, and then you specialize in one of the core areas of business like accounting, marketing, econ, finance, MIS, etc.

Yeah I have always been advised not to go general business unless I plan on getting a masters. Even then it is better to specialize. So I did. In fact a lot of people I have seen saying to avoid a 2 year GB were here on PCPP.

You may want to check the used markets over there and see what the parts are averaging. But here in the US it is worth about $500, which converts to £400. You could get upwards of £450 depending on the prices of used parts over there.

You may also get more by parting it out. The most valuable part is the GPU. So at least consider selling that separately.

My favorite episodes are the Umbara arc and Fives' arc in season 6. While I'm not a fan pf the whole inhibiter chip thing, I do think it is one of the best written arcs and really shows just how good Dee Bradley Baker is. But he is also the guy that voiced the Gravemimd in Halo, so it's not really surprising.

Star Wars the Clone Wars. Even thought episodes 5-8 of season 7 were boring and crappy with the 2 worst characters of the entire show, the first 4 were good and episode 9 was amazing. Plus the next few episodes will be longer than normal. I read somewhere that the last episode will be 40 minutes. So I am hyped for that. JAG is definitely one of the best shows ever made IMO. Recently binge watched all 10 seasons with my family. Due South is a good show and always fun to watch. Corner Gas is by far my favorite comedy show and I will begin a rewatch soon. Stargate SG1 is... well it is Stargate. What more is there to say?

Unturned is a really fun game. Although you would need to find a PVE sever. Not hard to do but you would need to deal with other players. Go on a map like Russia or Hawaii and you will have hours of exploration and zombie killing. And it is free.

Terraria is a great experience solo or with friends.

Sins of a Solar Empire is fun PVP or PVE if you like RTS games.

Destiny 2 has a good campaign that would be a really good time with friends. And it is free.

My brother has said good things about GTFO. But I can't say from personal experience if it is fun.

And of course Halo the Master Chief Collection as The_Merovingian recommend. Reach and Combat Evolved Anniversary are already out. And Halo 2 Anniversary just started it's first flight and should be out soon. No definite date yet but if I had to guess based on what I have played in the flight I would say about a month, maybe 2.

Really the only differences are the Power Supply and RAM. The Alienware has an 850w PSU, but it is way overkill. With these specs you only need 450-600w. So a 650w PSU will be plenty.

As for the RAM difference, the kit I listed is slightly faster at 3200mhz, compared to the 2933mhz on the Alienware. Not a big difference, just thought I would point it out.

The case is really up to you. Pick one you like the look of. I just picked a common case for the list because it is popular.

You are looking at saving around $150-200 at least. And this is just a rough list that somebody else could likely find a way to lower the cost of. But anyway with the money saved you could many things like getting an rtx 2080 Super, or getting 2-3tb of NVMe. And there is also the AMD side of things where you can get a 12 core 24 thread CPU for around the $1600 price point.

Star Wars The Clone Wars. But skip most of season 1. The Episodes I do recommend watching are 1, 5, 10, 11, 16 and 19-21. The rest should be skipped on a first watch because they are very... rough. But after that the show is overall great.

Paych.

They will want their new shiny plaything to sell.

Of course they will want it to sell. But to the market they are targeting. If they are targeting the people who want a high end machine then those people will buy it.

Games Will likely become even heavier IF they will all be 4K with 4K textures and everything. 100GB might become a standard heavyness.

100gb is already standard.

Propriatery NVMes will have to be purchased to expand storage and I doubt it will be cheap. They will make a lot of money on it especially since HDD cannot be used for Series X games.

It will be a while before we get a lot of Series X games do it won't be a big issue. Not a lot of launch titles so far. And the existing games can run off pf HDDs. So not a huge deal for a while.

I don't hope for any particularities regarding price yet. Regardless if its PS5 or Series X. I will not be purchasing either for 2 years (3 if I decide to upgrade my PC or get a New one). Plus I love my PS4.

Well you come off as hopeful that it will be $500 for some reason. Just looking at the specs this thing will be similar to current $1000+ PCs. And unless RDNA2 and Zen 3 are really inexpensive I just don't see it as likely. Sure anything is possible. But not probable.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox Series X"

  • 1 point

Well I wouldn't call you stupid as this is all just speculation. I would say you are being more hopeful than realistic. And what are you basing that price off?

Personally I just don't think Microsoft would want to take a massive loss unless the PS5 is the better option. And even then there are other things they could do like lowering the price of Xbox Live, or making it free that would be competitive.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox Series X"

Completely different situation. That was a brand new platform with exclusive games. This really isn't. It is an extension of the Xbone platform. Just like the XboneX. If people back then didn't want to pay that much they couldn't get the games any other way until Sony released the cutdown models. But if people don't want to pay for the SX, but still want a great gaming experience, they can pick up a XboneX for $300 and get the same games. Or get a PC and get the same games. Like you said a lot of the money comes from games. So whether somebody gets a XboneX or a SX they still make the money from the games. And with the PS3 they were competing with a console that was half the price. I highly doubt the PS5 will be half the price of the SX. And again over time the price would drop as cost of production goes down. Then it would be in the $400-500.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox Series X"

Well if they wish to put them in as many homes as possible (within reason), they should be ready to sell them at a loss regardless of Sony specs.

I don't know if that's their goal. Especially if they sell it at a loss. It looks to be a high end max performance option for those who want that. Not a "let's get this in every home possible" thing. The XboneS All Digital is being sold for around $150 new. That is something that could be put in as many homes as possible.

Xbox One X was initialy sold at 100$ loss I believe (maybe I am wrong)despite being considerably more powerful than PS4 Pro.

I doubt that. The only things I found on that were articles from mid 2017 regarding a quote from Phil Spencer. He was asked if the Xbone X would make money from sales pr something similar and all he said was "no". That doesm't mean it was sold at a loss. It was likely sold at around the cost of production. Considering the specs at the time of release. It used the same CPU as the Xbone and XboneS, just overclocked. At the time the most expensive part was probably the RAM as that was during the great shortage of nand chips. The GPU is basically a modified RX 580. And of course they get all those parts at wholesale pricing.

Well suppose Series X might Target mid to high end PC gamers/potential PC gamers. If so, even 600$ wouldn't be super high. I mean Gears 5 4K60 PC Ultra equivalent or better+Raytracing...WOW,just WOW.

I think $600 is the minimum it would cost. And like I said in my first comment I think this could be up to $800. For what's included that's not unreasonable.

And again this is just speculation.

But the lack of exclusives is very troubling, and so as much as I am excited, I am not very likely to get it. And even if I would,it wouldn't be b4 2022. I imagine midrange PCs Will catch up by then.

They won't have any exclusives unless they go back on their policy of all games going on PC as well as Xbox. Which is another reason I believe it is a high end product.

You clearly aren't very familiar how things work with consoles. Selling consoles at a loss in a 1st year or so is nothing new. The goal is that as many people as possible get them as soon as possible. They will neutralise or mostly neutralise those loses with sales of games, peripherals such additional gamepads and/or additional custom storage and Xbox Live subscription. So nothing to worry about. They can afford it. As can PlayStation division of Sony(they made billions with PS4(PS4 sold some 110 milion units so far. Possibly more. And phenomenal sales of games, both on physical media and especially via PlayStation Store.)). Also current events will likely cause people to have less funds especially if it continues beyond summer, so not a great moment for very high prices.

I am familiar with how it works. And I did say they may do it if they want to beat Sony that badly. But unless the PS5 is far better than the SX I just don't see it as likely. Why sell something at a loss when you don't need to? And inflation must be taken into account. The launch price of $500 for the Xbone, is equal to $560ish in todays money. And compared to when that launched, they won't be making nearly as much on games and accessories because Xbone games and accessories will be compatible. And for somebody that already owns an Xbone they will be less likely to upgrade as the only real reason will be performance. New games, at least around the time the SX launches, will be compatible for the Xbone and SX. The SX is more of a high end Xbox than anything. It is not a whole new platform with exclusive games or anything. If the specs they announced are final than this will likely be a high end option for people who want the best performance possible on a console. And the existing ones for people who want low budget options. And eventually the base Xbone and XboneS will be cut off and no new games for it. And then there will likely an upgraded SX a few years after the SX launches. That will be the high end model, the SX the mid range, and the XboneX the cheap option.

And like I said. If it is under $600 that would be amazing. I just don't see it as likely. It all depends on the PS5 specs, and compatibility with existing games and peripherals.

RDNA2 is more advanced than RDNA1. More efficient and more 💪 Oh they also have that Virtual RAM thingie where SSD can provide...umm... … … .

Of course RDNA2 is more advanced. It's a newer architecture. And using storage space as extra RAM is nothing new. PCs have the capability of overflowing into storage. But it is a lot slower than RAM.

Also I would not be surprised that those aren't true final specs, but a fake final specs revealed to provoke Sony into revealing its specs, so that some finetuning can be done b4 release. When PlayStation 4 release was coming closer and closer, It was believed it will have 4GB of RAM(some apparently believed 2).

What happened with Sony was a rumor. With this Microsoft gave official specs. If those aren't the actual specs, and they are actually worse than that would hurt Microsoft. If they are better then it may help them.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox Series X"

Very impressive, for what is likely to not be more than 500$

After watching the video and reading the specs I am sure that it at launch won't be less than $600. Otherwise they may be selling it at a loss. With launch titles for the Series X(Like Halo Infinite) being on the Xbox One S, Xbox One X and Series X, I think it will act like a higher end model for those who want the best the console experience possible. The Xbox One X will become the standard model, and the Xbox One S will still be the low budget option. And then after a year or two when the cost of production goes down a lot, the XboneX will be the lower end $250-$300 model, the SX will be the normal $400-500, and the XboneS will likely just be stopped being produced at that point. Unless they start selling it for around $100.

Honestly I think this could cost up to $800 at launch. But unless they want to beat Sony so bad that they start selling it at no profit, or at a loss, I don't see it costing less than $600 at launch. I don't know how much it costs per unit to make. But I would imagine they want to at least make their money from R&D back before selling for barely any profit.

Of course this is just my own speculation. And if I am wrong on the price I would honestly be happy. Getting a system like that for $500 would be absolutely amazing. Unless by that point the prices on AMD hardware drop so much you could build something for a similar price. And that is a possibility with Zen 3 coming this year and the inevitable price cuts on Zen 2. And RDNA2 is supposed to launch later this year, which could lead to a drop in pricing on current Navi GPUs.

On a side note I think the biggest limitation of it will be that it only has 13.5gb of RAM usable for games. And that is split between RAM and VRAM. Considering pretty much all $200+ GPUs have 6-8gb of VRAM, and most new built systems that use one of those GPUs has 16gb of DDR4, I think it is likely the relatively low amount of RAM will limit it. And looks to me like a cost saving measure. The average $600+ PC now has a combine total 22-24gb of RAM between the RAM and VRAM. And 6-8gb of that is strictly for the GPU. And game devs definitely know use it. Of course the optimization for the SX will mean lower RAM usage for equivalent PC settings, but you can only tale optimization so far.

And again this is just speculation on the matters. If I said something factually incorrect let me know.

EDIT: Also the fact that existing Xbox One controllers will be compatible with the SX, and the new controller will be backwards compatible furthers my belief that this is going to be a similar addition to the Xbone family like the XboneX was.

If you are having trouble with the 360 controller I recommend getting an Xbone controller as those can connect via bluetooth or micro usb(They even sell one with a 9ft micro usb cable). And with the cable it is just plug and play. And bluetooth should be easy to setup.

Also in case you don't know. If you use Steam big picture mode it can force controller support on games that don't have it natively. Great for older games.

Anyway great HTPC build. Looks nice, especially when in the cabinet. Overall a very nice setup.
