I think a large part of the usage of "they" as a gender-neutral second-person pronoun is that on the Internet you can't tell if someone is male or female (or even identifies as something else.) Using "they" is a helpful way to speak of someone without assuming their gender. People identifying as non-binary is not what I think started this trend but it might be fueling it further.

I'd advise you to go talk to someone you know who you consider wise, maybe like a parent or someone. I don't mind, but you seem to be asking life questions a lot on this site, you need some wisdom I think. If you are looking for knowledge this is a good site, but if you want wisdom go ask someone you trust.

Also, I didn't know this, but a guest on TYT last night, reported that the Republican Governor of New Hampshire made some ruling that severely restricted the number of students who could vote in the primary, students obviously being a key demographic for Bernie.

Yikes, if that's true they gotta get that guy outta there. That's inexcusable.

I've never seen any reason to use social media. I've thought about using Twitter to follow and tweet about politics but I really don't want to spend all that time in futile online debates. Plus I don't want to say anything I'll regret in a decade or so!

Honestly, I would recommend just not using social media, it's addictive and doesn't really contribute much to your life. But I don't think it's that big of a deal if you do use it.

I can definitely understand why you say this. There are conservatives who are neither religious nor rich but I guess not a lot of them. Rich celebrities do tend to be more liberal though. I do think that Bernie most likely does genuinely want to help, but I just question how effective his policies would actually be.

A bit misleading, sure, but I'm not convinced it's fair to say that Bernie is lying here either. He might not think this caveat matters and maybe isn't even aware of it (although the latter is unlikely imo).

Could you perhaps expand on why you think people like mayor Pete, as at least from a policy angle I'm a little bit at a loss with that one.

I just mean that I've heard a lot of people say good things about him, and that I think I've seen a lot more signs for him than anyone else. As for what specifically it is about him that appeals to Iowans more than other democrats, I really couldn't tell you. Personally, my pick would be Yang because he's smart, even if he's not so wise.

I would also ask, as a conservative, regardless of what you or anyone else may think or say about the way Donald Trump behaves, what do you think about his actual policies, is there anything really good he has done, anything he can improve or do better and are you pleased with the direction things are headed in etc.. or perhaps concerned that if a Democrat was to win the presidency in November that things might start to turn in the wrong direction perhaps?

First of all, I want to say thank you for being civil and asking for other people's opinions, we need more people like you on both sides of the aisle. There's a lot of stuff about Trump that I do not like, his rhetoric, his sketchy business past, and other things.

That being said I do like most of his policies. I love that he is extremely pro-life, and I love all the conservative judges we're getting. The economy is doing great too, some people have argued that it's not entirely because of him. Maybe that is so (I'm no expert) but it sure is working so in terms of economy I'd rather have the status quo than a socialist who starts going the other direction. Foreign policy I don't understand well, I mean I'm just an Iowan teenager. That being said we've dealt huge blows to Isis, and have killed notorious villains such as Baghdadi and Soleimani. People thought the latter would lead to further conflict and then it just died down, so I guess they were wrong. I think he's doing a pretty decent job of that. As for immigration, I have mixed feelings, but I agree with him more than with most democrats. The shutdown over the wall was just idiotic however, I kept wishing one side would give in. I mean even if you don't like the wall I don't think it's worth shutting down the government over something that costs a lot less than other projects the democrats want. That being said Trump literally took responsibility for it so I mostly blame him. No one's perfect I guess.

I really like his criminal justice reform, which has had bipartisan support. That being said since it was bipartisan it likely would have come to pass under Clinton or another democrat as well.

I'm sure there are other issues I could touch on but I don't want to take that time. There are still things I don't like about him and other Republicans, for example, I thought it was absurd not to bring forth witnesses such as Bolton in Trump's trial. I'm still not convinced that conviction was the right move either, but now that it's over I guess it doesn't matter too much...

Am I pleased with the direction we are heading in? Not really. Do I think the direction Trump is trying to take us in is perfect? By no means. Do I think it's not as bad as the direction most democrats are trying to take us? Yes. At the end of the day, this election will be between a conservative and a liberal and I will be inclined to vote for the conservative. Do I think Trump is perfect? Not at all. People tend to think their side is perfect and the other guys are evil. Neither side has it all together, only a Sith deals in absolutes.

You seem to be a Bernie fan. What is it about him that you like? Also, might I ask, are there anythings Trump is doing that you like?

No ones shoving anything down anyone’s throats. The reason people make a big deal of things is awareness. All they ask for is acceptance as human beings, since a lot of people seem to not do so.

I accept them as human beings, but they ask for way more than that. There is a movement to legally require people to use someone else's preferred pronouns, which is completely unconstitutional, as it violates freedom of speech and freedom to practice religion. There's also the movement to allow transgender individuals into the wrong locker rooms and bathrooms which is entirely unsafe, anyone who thinks it's safe to let a man into the women's locker room really needs to rethink some things. Be transgender if you want, I might not agree with it but I won't force them to stop, but they can't force me to use the wrong pronouns and they can't force themselves into the wrong locker room. I accept transgender men as humans, I don't accept them as women because that's not what they are, even if they think so. They don't get any special treatment, they get equality. Not to say that there aren't people who are too cruel to them, because that would be absurd. I don't hate transgender people, but I believe we are to love everyone unconditionally. But loving someone doesn't mean that I let them defy one of the most fundamental aspects of human existence, that's comparing apples to oranges, or really like comparing apples to buildings (there is no similarity).

Do you think this movement is tolerant? They criticized Micheal Bloomberg for saying "If you want to know if somebody is a good salesman, give him the job of going to the Midwest and picking a town and selling to that town the concept that some man wearing a dress should be in a locker room with their daughter..." If that's not unfair criticism I don't know what is, in fact, what he said was factually correct. Reminds me of the quote from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II "He has brought truth and you condemn it? The arrogance!" Not to mention their responses when someone disagrees with their movement. I don't know to what extent Sanders' agrees with this movement, but no one will be shocked if the people he's appointed to our courts do. Neither side of this debate is perfect though.

Making it easier to apply for citizenship in this country is exactly what we need. The reason people come here illegally is that it is very hard and expensive to do so. Making it easier to do so legally will help this.

I agree with this, but I don't believe in going soft on illegal immigrants. I'm sick and tired of seeing news stories of people deported several times only to keep coming back to places like California and commiting terrible crimes. I want legal immigration to be easy for those who aren't going to commit crimes. Remember that by saying Sanders won't be able to do a good job of this I'm not saying that any other particular candidate will or will not, I'm just saying that Sanders won't.

Won’t even go there (gun control), lol.

I'll agree to that!

I am aware of some of the things that American socialists have accomplished for us (for example a 40 hour work week) and I'm glad that they did, but I think there is a balance to be had and many democrats are taking it too far.

You should also consider why I invoked the red scare in the first place.

I'm gonna level with you, I had a pretty good idea of why when I originally read this but by the time I'd responded to tomtomj2 I'd forgotten. In my defense I'm sick so I'm probably not super focused right now.

Anyways there were definitely places where the red scare went too far but I still think Sanders' economics wouldn't work as good as those of most Republicans (and a lot of Democrats for that matter), and of course, the fact that the nation where Sanders spent his honeymoon was one of the evilest of all time (hint, it's not America, although you could certainly argue that we're pretty high on that leaderboard too), although the latter hardly rebuts socialism. Sanders' history of sympathy for the USSR is disqualifying to me.

No one is asking us to go crazy communist like ignorant people scream and yell and were all gonna die from it. His policies are progressive, yes. He is a Democratic Socialist, yes. Like Gork said, things change, times change, people change. Were not going to turn into a communist dictatorship, no one is screaming the downfall of Capitalism, both can work together to benefit everyone.

A lot of times people can agree on something but don't agree on how to get there.

Did what I say contradict this somehow, except perhaps >both can work together to benefit everyone.

I don't think that a Sanders' presidency will send us into a new dark age or something, but I still don't think his policies will work out well. We do need some degree of government control over the economy to stop companies from driving up prices together, but I think Sanders is far too socialist, not to mention other issues where I think he is too far left such as abortion, immigration, gun control, Transgender 'rights' (I'm fine if you live that way but don't force it on others), and probably more if I further looked into it.

I'm not exactly in love with the right-wing either though, I'd consider myself on most issues to be a center-right conservative, although on some issues a lot of people would call me far right probably, but hey that's just a label.

As an Iowan, I just thought this whole ordeal was ridiculous. I didn't caucus because I was working plus I'm conservative and it's not like there would have been any point in going to the Republican one. I'd heard some shady stuff about this app they were using and kind of figured things would go wrong...people trust computers way too much lol. You know you aren't a computer expert when you think computers will solve everything, because 'To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.' - Paul R. Ehrlich

Anyways I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised that Pete performed so well because he seems pretty popular around here, although my prediction is that Iowa stays red. I've even heard some Trump supporters say that if they had to choose one of the democrats it would be him (personally if I had to chose one it would be Yang). But if there's one thing I know about elections involving Trump it's that you cannot predict them so we'll see...

Task manager will have no noticeable effect on performance on any modern computer in almost any setting. It takes up very little RAM as it doesn't have to store a lot of values and requires very little processing power because there aren't exactly a lot of complex equations it has to go through.

A problem to be sure, but a welcome one!

This computer is a beast, but the GPU is not. Don't get me wrong, it's a great GPU, but it's not gonna give you the performance of a top tier card such as a GTX 2080. If you want to find a game that will push its capacity just find an AAA game released recently (2018 or later probably). Most of these probably will be violent and/or expensive though...if you can get Planet Coaster on a sale that might be good. It's the spiritual successor to Roller Coaster Tycoon and my GTX 1050Ti I think runs that on like medium settings (not sure though, I haven't played in a while). Other than that not much comes to mind.

Well, it depends on what you are doing with it but that computer is still a beast and upgrading it would probably just be a waste of money. Ask yourself "Is there anything I am doing on this computer that is too slow or needs a higher FPS or that I want to turn up the graphics settings on?"

If the answer is yes then I guess an upgrade is reasonable if it's affordable for you. Although if what is so slow is loading times then a newer CPU or GPU probably isn't what you need, you'd want an SSD.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "What kind of CPU should I get?"

You can use the same MOBO with a newer Intel CPU if PCPP says they are compatible. If you switch to Ryzen or any AMD CPU you will have to get a new MOBO. Also, be aware that Windows' keys are locked to the MOBO so if you do get a new one and are using Windows you will need a new key.

Now unless if you are planning to downgrade your CPU (which you aren't) you can keep your current RAM. Any modern MOBO will support DDR4 RAM so you don't need to worry about that. Now an older MOBO would need DDR3 but there's no reason why you would be purchasing one of those.
