I don't recommend shaders because of how ludicrously slow it is. It doesn't even make minecraft look nice, just glitch. I've been on quite a few of the forums and all say the bloated coding of it and poor optimization. I know for myself because I used it. The least demanding shaderpack available gave me 15 fps on my radeon hd 5870 with 2g gddr5. One shaderpack for minecraft called SEUS is so demanding it only works on a GTX 980 ti or better and looks awful imo (glitchy and shadow/lighting issues). People will complain about it in the forums and all the answers they get are that there computers are crap and that the shader has many demanding features like global illumination and bogus like that. It is so badly done that AMD cards are not compatible with almost all the versions except a few. I'm telling the person to get a 1060 because otherwise they will not be happy with the framerates they get with cheaper cards which SHOULD be fine but will struggle

Also go to some oft the forums and you'll see :) (eg: MinecraftForum.net)

Honestly, this is the closest I could get. I tried to put in an ssd but could not. Also I managed to fit in a GTX 1060 6g because AMD performs poorly with shaders mod and any lower GTX will start to lag. Here it is: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kFGKXH

It is just a bit over 1k but save up a few more dollars and it's worth it

I'm sorry bro but $330 is just not enough to get that performance at 1080p. At most you'll get 20-30 fps at high which is not ideal. I recommend either playing at 720p to get playable framerates or just save up more money to get a 1060 to get 60 fps easily on all AAA titles at ultra.

Took me a while but got it: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/b2DN6X

It has an SSD which is faster than an HDD and perfect for windows

Also a GTX 1070 if he wants to play the most demanding titles at ultra settings or go to 1440p

And a fully modular PSU from Seasonic!

at $1900 you can go much better than a 1060. Drop the 8 gigs of ram as you don't need them and change the cpu cooler to an h115i, then you could put in a better GPU like a 1070

You could've gone with a much better GPU and instead get an EVGA PSU and a cheaper case, also just 16 gigabytes of ram

Unless he is using shaders mod or a graphically demanding mod he does not need a GPU. The integrated graphics will be fine. A Pentium will be enough because Minecraft only uses single core performance.

If he does want to use shaders a GTX 970 is a good choice

It's your choice. You can get one with it to unlock the full potential of Gsync but you can also still use Gsync even without a Gsync monitor. If your doing fast shooter games I would recommend it but if not you don't really need it. it is your choice ( I have never used Gsync before )

agreed, but on the bright side it does not make enough of a difference to make them cost that much, you'll be fine without. :)

I get that but its going to be a bit slow I'd recommend adding a GPU to get those 60 fps. Even a 950

Of course. The 6950x for example only is 3.0 Ghz, but has 10 cores so better for multi core performance. The 6700k has only 4 cores but each at 4.0 Ghz so it is better for gaming. Each processor has there own purpose, so what you want to do with it will depend on which processor you get.

You can ask them of you can create a twitter account, make it and then if you win just ask them to answer the phone. You don't need to put in ID or Social security number. Just get the permission and certification of help needed :)

It is not 18+ because they want to prohibit kids from this giveaway, its because technically money is involved so parental permission is required so no 5 year olds accidentally make purchases :P (probably not the reason)

I am fine with the 6700k honestly, but really I spent no time on optimizing the list because I thought it ended today :P

What I really should have done was an 850w PSU and an SLI 1080 :(

But really I'm fine with what I have :) (probably not going to win anyway)

Also I'd recommend a better PSU from EVGA or Corsair

This is a really nice build, very close in terms of parts of what I would buy for my upcoming PC.

I do agree with Eltech that it is a clean build with a great choice of parts and accessories ( I love the K70+G502 Combo In my opinion ) This is certainly a very good build and I hope it lasts you long

Nice budget PC.

A GPU will definitely improve performance. I'd recommend something like this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sXkwrH/powercolor-radeon-rx-460-2gb-red-dragon-video-card-axrx-460-2gbd5-dhoc

only $110 so very affordable with still better performance than the Intel HD 530

Hmmm... You never know, one zap of ESD from the original owner failing to ground him/herself can significantly damage and slow down the GPU, even if it looks in perfect shape, that's probably why they sold it for only $150 (not even that cheap).

I'm not saying that is the cause of the poor performance, just be careful choosing the right one :)

Weird, my 2.2 ghz laptop can play minecraft with shaders at 50 fps stable at med-high settings.

Did you install minecraft correctly?

How about your GPU drivers.

You may have a faulty GPU which then I would RMA for a new one ( The only thing I can think of if not the ones above).
