Would either one make a colossal difference?

By colossal difference are you referring to performance? if you are no they both perform very closely.

The downside is the 390's louder noise

Depends on which one you buy.

Damn that sucks. I my drop my HTC one m8 all the time with no case and literally nothing. I would assume from videos I've seen the s6 edge has similar id not better build quality, but can't blame you for wanting a case.

I personally just dislike cases because they always feel bulky to me.

Newer smart phones are built pretty tough honestly. I've see people hitting them with hammers and the screen is still fine.

An I5 3570k from almost 4 years ago still performs very well today, so assuming there's no giant leap in graphics and tech it should last at least a few years.

The minimum for star wars battlefront was 8gbs while the recommended was 16gbs. We all know that it doesn't use nearly that much ram. So am I skeptical? yeah sure why not.

You need to plug the monitor into the GPU for the monitor to get signal.

Do you have a best buy near you? If you do they usually have one out that you can try. I didn't find it to be that big a deal and it hardly bothered me at all, but I've heard some people really complain about it, so you should probably try it out yourself if you can.

For the most part yes. If there are parts that are incompatible then PCPP will notify you. Also if you have the compatibility filter checked the system wont let you pick parts that are incompatible. The system isn't perfect, but its rare that something isn't caught. If you wanted to you could also have others check your build by posting it here in the forums.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "XFX R9 380 not working with Z97S SLI Krait Edition Motherboard"

  • 1 point

When I was first plugging the graphics card into the PSU, it would shut the computer off.

Did you keep your PC on when you installed your GPU? You should've turned it off.

Is it just as simple as the 2, 6 pin connectors need to be plugged in directly to the graphics card and nothing else? Does it matter which 16x slot it's plugged into?

Yes and top slot is usually the best.

After you installed your GPU did you plug your monitor into the GPU? The monitor needs to be connected to the GPU not the motherboard.

Should I have gone with a 4gb 980?

I think you should've just gotten a 390 to be honest depending on how much you bought it for. The 390x generally costs about 30% more, but only offers about 5 -10% more performance.

My roommate has the XFX 270 and running 3D-Mark against my 960 it was neck and neck.

Not a very good way to compare the gpus. Gaming performance wise the 960 is a lot better than the 270.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Do Consoles Suck?"

  • 2 points

In this day in age the PC vs console war is pointless and moot. Lets be completely honest here we all know the real winner. Tablets. Today the tech in tablets is just too advanced to even be compared to a PC or console. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing AAA titles moving exclusively to tablets.

Being serious it depends on how you compare a console to a PC. Short run vs long run prices, ease of access, exclusives, hardware and performance. I would not say they suck, but I'm not buying one.

Yeah as tiny voices said just connect it to any grounded metal... And is correct about static being way over blown. Its not really an issue and people have just gone nuts about it, but I guess its never a bad thing to feel secure.

Of course if your being an idiot and your dancing on carpet with fuzzy socks on while rubbing against your cat/dog then yes static is gong to be an issue then.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Single XFX 390x (1.05 GHZ MODEL) for 2560x1440p"

  • 1 point

Will it be able to?

Yes

I heard it has issues with fallout.

I've Never had issues with running fallout on my 390x, but if your referring to Nvidia Gameworks settings then yes because nvidia has barred AMD from optimizing it for their GPU's. ( not that its a great idea to use those settings anyways in my opinion too much of a performance hit)

What about the drivers?

Crimson drivers are working well haven't had any issues with any games, though I think it should be noted I've never had issues with any other drivers as well, So I may not be the best person to answer that.

Are they worse then the 390?

No, the 390x performs better than the 390 by 5 - 10%.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "What's a good 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply PSU?"

  • 2 points

what's a good PSU brand

Your going to have to look at each individual PSU not just brand to find a good PSU. Corsair makes some great PSU's, but not all of them are great and that goes for all companies, but some good PSU's would be the EVGA G2 or GS series, XFX XTR or TS series, and I believe Corsairs RMI and RMX are also great.

I first pick 750w Corsair RM, but people say its not good why?

looking at reviews it looks good, So I'm not sure.

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/psu/60449-corsair-rm750/

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/RM750/

Gold not good why?

Gold rating has nothing to do with the quality of the power supply. The rating refers to its efficiency that's it. Here's a little more info http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2012/august/80-plus-platinum-what-does-it-mean-and-what-is-the-benefit-to-me

I want to replace the cable on the PSU later, or is fully modular not good, why?

If your going to replace the cables you have to buy a fully modular PSU. A fully modular power supply lets you use the cables you need and unplug the ones you dont. On a non modular power supply all the cables are connected to the PSU and cannot be removed or replaced.

When you boot up your PC it will ask you to select a drive where your operating system is stored (the USB) select it and it should it should install onto your storage device.

You can download windows straight from Microsoft's website and put it on a USB. Then use that to install it on your fresh build. You could also use an external disk drive if you wanted use the disk.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "R9 390 fans haven't been spinning"

  • 1 point

The fans wont start spinning untill the GPU hits a temperature of 60C. Monitor your temps just to be sure, but from the sound of it you aren't putting much load(not an expert on video editing, but I thought it was more of a CPU intensive task) on the GPU so its not causing it to heat up and the fans to start spinning.

Whatever connection you want. HDMI, displayport, or DVI your choice.

Do I hook up my monitor straight up to the graphics card or to the mother board.

Graphics card

Also when I open a program do I click on, run with integrated graphics card or what?

When you connect your gpu it automatically uses that not the integrated.

I have the NVIDIA GTX 770 that I might return for $150. I was looking at the PowerColor R9 270 for $90

That would be a pretty big downgrade. The 770 outperforms pretty much everything at that price range.

Droid carries secret plans and escapes the empire Check. Masked dark side user Check. Planet blown up as a demonstration Check. Another death star (call it whatever you want, but lets be honest its Death star 3) Check. One of the heroes decides to leave, but then changes their mind and comes back to help Check. Older mentor that tells the main hero about the force and then proceeds to die aboard the death star, yep thats there too. There are so many similarities its practically A New Hope 2.0

What're your guys opinions on these cases?

Don't really care for the 600c's inverted look. I'd rather not have everything upside down other than that it looks like a solid case. The Iwin's case looks great liking the aluminum build and I've always loved their tempered glass windows.

which should I go for if I'm building a gaming build?

Whatever you think looks the coolest.

Not as big of a deal as some people make it out to be.

I don't have an anti static wristband is it a big deal?

No. Just don't build on carpet while wearing fuzzy socks and remember to ground yourself by touching some metal before you begin.
