Thanks Chillsabre i wasn't sure . My 1440p monitor was sent to Acer today for repair . Was thinking of buying a cheapy 1080p as long as I can use it as a secondary when Acer sends my monitor back .

The issue with a 2mm vertical strip from the centre of the screen is appearing on the left edge of the screen is a fault with the monitor . I found a thread in the Acer forums from their site . Other ppl have been having the same problem . I contacted Acer support who has asked for the monitor to carry out a repair . Just thought I'd update in case other people get this issue.

If you can afford it get the gtx1080 . I'm using the gtx1080 with 1440p gsync monitor . You want the best possible gaming experience , games maxed out on a 1440p screen is a beautiful thing .

Hi , went with the MMX300 , just arrived this morning . Have been using the Razer Kraken for the last 2 years and wow these Beyers are a different world , really happy with them . Thanks for your thoughts .

Thanks for replying . Yeah suppose its not that big an issue to adjust volume in the options . Im playing a lot of DayZ lately and im thinking about times when I might need to quickly tweak the volume to hear distant footsteps or maybe with these new Beyers I wont need to do that .

Thanks , yeah I get what you're saying regarding the second monitor giving off light , still I might connect the 1080p up and see if I can make use of a second monitor .

If I may ask something else , which do you prefer for gaming , the G4ME ONE or the Astro A40 ?

Hi , nice set up , cooler master HAF looks great . I recently upgraded my pc with the same card , msi gtx1080 gaming x and a Acer Predator 1440p monitor , my other monitor is Aoc g2460pg 1080p . I see you are running 1440p and 1080p at the same time , how does that work ? Can you game on the 1440p and say have a web browser open on the other screen ? Do you notice a performance drop when gaming if you have both monitors running . Thanks

Thanks , good news . Wasn't sure if I had to down scale the resolution of the 1440p monitor to 1080p . Think I read before that windows can't run two different resolutions but I take it that only applies to gaming and using the monitors as one screen .

Hi Tooth ,

Got it sorted , you were right , build of heat in the case .

Changed the top fan to exhaust and temps have dropped down to 72c max with 56% RPM fan speed .

This case comes with a two exhaust fan set but I changed the top fan to intake which was keeping hot air inside the case , The whole plastic window was on this s340 was hot to touch now its completely cool .

Deep breath , relax :)

Hi , thanks for taking the time to help . The msi gaming app does work on both cpu and gpu , in oc mode the cpu increases to 4.1 same as the boost button in the bios . Ive got rid of the app now anyway .

The motherboard max temp is max 48c and cpu max temp 42c . Motherboard max fan speed is #1 1285 , #2 825 , #3 1189 although there is only two mobo fans , that info is from Corsair Link .

Was playing this morning and GPU-Z max temp 81c , max gpu fan speed 74% , max gpu fan RPM 1856 .

Hi

I have some figures after similar game play as yesterday . Every thing same apart from I set the monitor to default 144Hrz from 165Hrz .

GPU-Z Sensor tap ... Max

GPU 1987.0 MHz GPU Memory 1251.5 MHz GPU Temperature 77.0 C Fan Speed 64% Fan Speed (RPM) 1591

Would lowering the refresh rate put less stress on the GPU ?

My case is NZXT S340 with a 140 intake on the top , 120 exhaust at rear and a Corsair H100iGTX with rad on the front of the case , the fans are pushing air through the rad into the case . The fan profile on the Corsair is "silent" .

Yeah I have the latest version of the gaming app , I have had a play about with it as it overclocks my CPU also , the motherboard is MSI Gaming 5 .

I will run GPU Z and Corsair Link later while I'm gaming for Temps , fan speed etc and let you know . Thanks very much for your help .

Hi Tooth

The card I'm running is MSI GTX1080 Gaming X , the monitor is ACER XB271HU 1440p and it appears to be around 10c increase from the AOC G2460PG 1080p .

There was no overclock to the card , just the "gaming" setting on the MSI Gaming App . I don't think the temps should be that high . I'm a bit concerned , ive invested a lot of money into this .

I ran Valley benchmark , 1440p fullscreen on ultra and max temp was 77c .

Thanks for replying . My gtx 1080 just arrived form OC.UK this morning cant wait to get it installed . Im thinking of just using control panel to uninstall . The latest 1080 drivers are dl to desktop . So just ... disconnect from internet , uninstall drivers , fit new GPU then install new drivers , I could also run ccleaner after install to get rid of anything lingering . Is that about it ?

Im planning on getting the 1080 so I can game at 1440p . You don't want any regrets always go for he upgrade option if you can afford it .

My experience using a 144Hz monitor is , when I'm playing WoW in Ashran , two large raids battling it out , everyone is using their spells , all types of visuals going on , total chaos . Before when using my 60Hz monitor it was all a bit of a blur . Now using my 144Hz monitor I can see each individual movement , even when scrolling in when in battle you can really notice everything . It has made such a diiference to my gaming .

Just the fans that came with the S340 . I was thinking of changing them to pwm so I can lower the rpm . Do what you suggested and make the top intake and back exhaust . I have the i100gtx set to silent so im guessing the noise I hear is coming from the NZXT fans .
