went back and forth on this- basically i heard from a few diff places that 1 stick of 8gb is faster than 2x4GB so i went with the highest rating/cheapest RAM i could find. Side note- i had to reset the ram after my build because i was having some issues with it. what would you have suggested?

honestly i think it might have been my fault.. Basically when i mounted it to my case i had to push it towards the i/o shield (with quite a bit of force), had trouble lining it up to the standoff screws basically. so now the very top corner of one of my usb ports is slightly covered by the i/o shield and im unable to use it. i could take it apart but.. well, 2 sides of thinking here: "Hey thats not right! you're missing out on a USB port so fix it!" and "dude.. your computer works.. let it fly." Considering this is my first build and everything works (minus that USB port) im for the latter. also the case i bought, for some unknown reason; had no instructions whatsoever on where to mount my motherboard so that might have been my problem. hope this helps- good luck on your build!
