You are comparing 2 different gpu's. The 5700xt will perform better then the 5700. SO here the better buy will be the powercolor 5700xt.

A question just to check the monitor connector is in the gpu right? You could also try to put the gpu in the second pcie slot. And also try different cables if you can displayport, hdmi,...

Vga light according to the manual indicates that the gpu is not dedected or fail. So make sure the gpu is installed or reseat the gpu. Also make sure the cables from psu are correctly installed.

The 1660 super is indeed faster then the rx 590. Ofcourse it costs also more.

Here is a performance chart https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-5500-xt-pulse-4-gb/27.html . Your rx 480 is around the same as the rx 580 for comparison.

Rx590 is 10% faster then the 1650super and 5500xt so it's also a possibilty. It's not a doggy part it's the normal price for a rx590 and overclockers.co.uk is a good website.

If your computer shop worker doesn't know this then i would recommend to stay away from them.

The example i gave was the 1660 SUPER not the regular 1660. Nvidia's naming is not easy.

For £50 more anything superior then the 1660 SUPER? No the next tier of stronger gpu's are £100+ more like the RTX 2060 and RX 5700. They are 20%-25% faster then the 1660 SUPER. If it's worth it? Your choice to make.

If your psu is only 1 year old no need to change it now but i would recommend changing it at the end of the warranty because it's a budget model. Benefit of a newer one is that it has better internal components and has longer warranty. Good psu's have warranty of 10 years.

for $16 more you can have a 500gb ssd. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rRCD4D/inland-480gb-25-solid-state-drive-480-gb-ssd faster and doesn't make any noise.

Best you can buy at that price range https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/dTMTwP/palit-geforce-gtx-1660-super-6-gb-stormx-video-card-ne6166s018j9-161f

Tier lower https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/tx2bt6/sapphire-radeon-rx-5500-xt-4-gb-pulse-video-card-11295-03-20g and https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/MdFKHx/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1650-super-4-gb-windforce-oc-video-card-gv-n165swf2oc-4gd

The 5500 xt and 1650super have the same performance and also same performance as the rx480. But remember that 1660 super is 20%-30% better then the 1650super and 5500xt.

Also do you have any warranty left on that rx480? And maybe also start to save up to replace that psu. I think it was first released in 2012-2013 with 3 years warranty.

Most games don't support dual gpu's and they will just run on 1 while the other one doesn't do anything. So these days it's always better to have 1 stronger gpu then 2 weaker ones.

It's enouge wattage yes but I would change that psu since if i got the right one almost 7-9 years old so it's time to get a good 550W psu in my opinion (depending on your budget that is).

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Help understand Motherboard FSB with CPU GHz"

I wouldn't recommend upgrading that cpu to a another cpu from the same socket. It's dead socket (no longer being produced), outdated, performance increase will be negligible and you will probably overpay since you almost can't find it anymore.

Depending on your budget i would probably get a motherboard and cpu from a newer generation and also DDR4 Ram.

There is more to life then drinking, smoking weed and being popular. There are people who think it's fun or even "living" and there are people who don't. You can go out if you want to but don't have to drink alcohol. People who say you aren't part of the group if you don't drink are close to braindead and should be avoided.

Just do what you like to do. Don't be a follower.

You are "only" 16 you have so much years ahead of you. So many people to meet. Work hard and good things will come. Be patient ;)

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Water Cooling Build"

  • 1 point

is it worth it?

It's worth it if you don't have to cut back on having better parts like a better gpu or cpu.

What brands would you recommend

Brands i like are hardwarelabs for rads, bitspower for fittings and tubing, sigularity computer for reservoir, gpu block from phanteks or watercool, cpu block from watercool/optimus/phanteks and Aquacomputer, liquid from Mayhems.

can I do a lot of RGB lights without water cooling?

Ofcourse you can. These days almost every part in your computer can have rgb lightning.

I am worried about water leaking or something going wrong.

Leaking is always possible when you venture in the world of watercooling. But most of the times leaking happens when you build the loop and test it the first time. But if it holds for the first hours you can be sure it's alright.

HX1000 instead of RX1000?

28pin should go into the psu and 24pin into the motherboard. Looking at the pics of a HX1000 it has a 18+10 for that 24pin atx.

For your gpu that cables set has 2x 650mm PCIe single connector 6+2-pin cables. So 1 8pin connector and 1 6 pin connector for your gpu.

The evga 550W G3 psu has 10 years warranty so should be good for the coming years while that EVGA BQ 750 "only" has 5 years warranty. The G3 psu is just a better psu overall but if you want more wattage for whatever reason go with the evga 650W G3 or corsair RM650(x). 550W-650W is plenty for your system even if you would go with a 2080ti and a 3950x.

I understand what you are saying and overall your build looks good (after you changed that psu that is ;) ).

If you plan on just gaming the Ryzen 5 3600 should give you a bit better performance for the same price as the 2700x.

The bq psu is old and not really recommended for that price the EVGA SuperNOVA G3 550 for example is just better.

Rest looks alright to me.

I think the ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F has the same vrm as your prime and the aorus pro is a bit better (vrm wise) but don't think it's worth $100 more. So your mobo in my view is plenty for that 9700k even if you plan to overclock.

It should all fit yes. if you have the psu no reason the change it but if not a good 550W psu would be enough.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "G4560 and 1050ti upgrade path?"

2 roads you can take. Better cpu and mobo combo so for example ryzen 2600 with ASRock B450M Pro4-F or Intel Core i3-9100F / Intel Core i5-9400 with Gigabyte B365M DS3H (mobo's and cpu's are ofcourse suggestions)

Or the other road a better gpu like EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6 GB SC ULTRA GAMING

So if you are happy with your current gpu go with the cpu upgrade and save up for a better gpu in the future or the other way.

I see no reason why i wouldn't work. Problem is there is so much RAM mobo makers just don't have the time to test them all. But if you want to be close to 100% (can't be 100% sure) it's recommended to go with the RAM on the QVL list.

Cooler should fit your case since that case can have cpu coolers with max length of 167 mm and that 212 cooler is 158.8 mm. Also shouldn't be any problem for that RAM.

But are there parts you already have or is this build something you plan on buying? Just asking because it doesn't make alot of sense like that 1060 for £400 and a 850W psu is also overkill.

A 2016 psu i believe with 3 years warranty so i would indeed save up to buy a new psu in the near future. Not because i won't work it probably will but often psu's with 3 year warranty aren't the best and it's better to find a new one after you passed that warranty.

The biggest thing for me about this discussion (and most things in general) is that i feel that alot of people have forgotten how to talk to eachother. Alot of these "misconceptions" as you will can be easily solved if people just talk to eachother. I see to many people not willing to talk to eachother just because they are more to left or more to the right or anything else. This division or sometimes even pure hate can't be good in the long term.

A B250 mobo should also work like https://pcpartpicker.com/product/36PzK8/asrock-fatal1ty-b250m-performance-micro-atx-lga1151-motherboard-fatal1ty-b250m-performance . It's expensive (less then that crazy price to replace your current one) but you have to remember that those mobo's are discontinued and prices at stores are a bit higher but if you need a decent one this is the one i would go for.

Unless you need something extra like wifi?
