This deserves way more attention. Ur an absolute mad lad for this. Really surprised to hear that the thermals where pretty average. Like, what is all that air doing?

Hey man, Sweet build. I've been looking at that same video card for a build but I can't stand the obnoxious Zotac gaming branding on the side. What did you use to cover it up? It looks so nice!

I'm pretty sure they have a white version of the case now, but yeah, I sanded all the panels first and then washed them to the surfaces prepped. Just a light sanding with some heavy grit sandpaper to scuff the panel will do. And i didn't use any primer just a lot of coats of white spray paint.

Clean as hell, this is awesome looking setup. Everything is on point, from the pc, to the desk, to the monitor, and especially that painting. However, IMO you should maybe consider getting a new mouse pad. The green is kind of clashing with the rest and just a simple black one would look much better. Also maybe consider centering the painting above the monitor because it is a very nice painting. +1

Very Nice, one of the best hard pipe tubing jobs I've seen. The reservoir looks really awesome in that position as well. Idk, to me the sleeved cable coming from the Gpu seems a bit out of place and a back plate would make it look even better! +!

Dope Case, reminds me a lot of an ammo box of some sort. Nice Build! However the rad looks kinda awkward in that position. Should be moved back closer to the back of the case if that's possible imo. +1

I wouldn't necessarily declare your build to be better. Though my GPU is older, it's no slacker in all the games I've thrown at it. I just got out of game of BFH and it runs at 60 to 70 fps on high settings. However, for 400 bucks, i thin you've got a very nice build. I can't say i love the case but that's a personal preference. Also if you are going to go with that CPU and GPU you should consider an after market cooler like the hyper 212, and maybe go for the GTX 950 which has been getting great reviews so far!

i have no idea... I haven't played minecraft ever but i would imagine it would run it at max settings at some crazy fps. I can play CS:GO at around 150 fps at ultra if that helps.

As far as temps go, they are very good. The 200mm fan does quiet a nice job of pushing air through the case. Idle on the cpu and the board are in the mid 30's and under load it never goes above 70 degrees. The PC isn't ultra quiet, when gaming it does start humming but it's not crazy.

I used very strong double sided tape to mount it. Its basically super glued on there. Also I needed to replace the top window because the old one got in the way of the 120mm fan.

Very Nice build! Enjoyed reading your description, I'm trying to build a pc very similar to yours! I got the pentium k and a b85 instead of an h81. I'm planning on getting the core v1 along with a couple other parts to finish off the build. Almost the same scenario as yours again. I had a 750ti ready then i saw a Radeon hd 7950 for $100 bucks and was like damn son, 420SMOKE69 i have to get this. Just wondering, how was GTA 5 on the g3258? I bought it during the summer sale and was planning on playing the **** out of it! +1

I know the Air 540 is a great looking case, but you could have gone with a way cheaper case and got a better GPU then a 750. Same goes for your Ram. If you only plan on gaming then 8gb is enough. That being said you could have added on like 100 to 150 bucks on you graphics card budget and got yourself a gtx 960 or 280x if you like AMD... I really don't see the point in putting a 750, not even a 750ti in a case like that..

Nice build! Love the NAS build as well. Also the name.... is it just me or does it spell Dracula backwards. I remember watching Batman vs Dracula as kid and there was that one scene where Dracula goes to Bruce wayne's party and says his name is Dr. Alucard.... Conspiracy, I'm going to go put my tinfoil hat back on...

Aww, you could have put the zotac 960 in their! Its only 20.5cm, and I'm pretty sure the clearance for GPU's in that case is 21cm. Would have looked really awesome! Great build, I was thinking of using this case for my build!

What the point of a water cooler on a CPU that cant overclock... Other then that, nice build! Also. I think the fx 6300 would have gave you better performance though. Also you would put that cooler to use because it can overclock.

Comment reply on Hetro's Build Guide: Good 1080p 120fps Console

  • 3 points

You couldn't OC using the stock cooler though. I Seriously doubt that you will hit 120 fps, even when over clocked on any games outside of League or Minecraft and others like that. You're looking at maybe 50-60 fps in Game like BF4 on high settings. Also I would think that that CPU would bottleneck the 960.

Other then that, its a great build for a steam box sort of thing.
