What idiots to use credit on such a volatile market
It depends on the charity in question. But 90-98% of money made goes to the solicitors, the people that put the word out and host the charity in their businesses.
So yeah, only about 2-10% of cash ever goes to relief efforts/charities.
I was wondering how our near identical setups were giving different results. Then you said it was delidded. Which tool did you use? And are you interested in reselling it?
I have the Phanteks enthoo evolv'd tempered glass case along with the Kraken x62. Temps hover around 30 degrees C with minimal load sometimes less in idle. In the winter time it was around 18 degrees C. So that was cool.
Under about 45% load (which is all i ever use tbh) it fluctuates between 45-70. Really depends on ambient temps, fan curves, and the case's airflow. Speaking of air flow this case has crap airflow, so this actually isnt bad for this case. 30 degress idle tends to be a standard around here.
I mounted in the front so i could go with a push-pull formation since at the top theres only room for one set of fans.
I do believe i could have better thermals because i used a cotton swab on the cooler to clean off and reseat the pump and ive been wondering if i have debris stuck on it. I also run a 7700k so that tends to run hot and im considering delidding it.
It really is a negligible push. I have the x62 and it pushes it over by 1-1.5mm? It's really not that bad.
Here are some pictures so you can see. I have yet to post my build because i plan on doing a few more things, so go easy haha.
Nevermind just realized you're a troll. You asked the same question 82 times in different builds.
Is there a particular question you need answered? Because i've seen you on other builds asking the same exact question. Why is that?
I'd like to help if im able.
Actually there is always some form of bottle neck because its all relative to something else.
In this case, imagine gaming at 4k, the gpu is bottlenecking the CPU because our GPUs simply arent strong enough to handle anything more than 60 fps on 4k with our current tech.
I think the 1080 Ti pushes that to maybe 80 fps.
Really it all depends on what you are focusing on. If you want 144 fps monitor you are going to be bottle necked by the gpu until we have one capable of pushing 4k at that refresh rate. However if the CPU was trash tier and you had a 1080 its very possible your fps would be bottlenecked because the CPU could not handle the instructions per time unit necessary for the workload.
So You are right in saying it's not bottlenecked if you dont care for more fps, and you are wrong if you do.
It's all relative. I hope i did a good enough job of explaining.
That cooler is so sexy. That's the RGB version right?
I'll probably make a ryzen build for my wife for regular surfing and throw this cooler on it for sexiness factor.
I have the Avexir Green Tesla ram sticks which are as thick- if not thicker than the Trident Zs and i mounted my x62 normally. The left most one gets pushed maybe 1mm to the right but it's reinforced by the other 3 ram sticks pushing on it back to the left. They look straight and work fine. No damage at all. Obviously exercise caution, but i would give it a shot and see how much the stick deviates off center.
Amazing work. Absolutely amazing. I have one minor point, and i don't know how helpful it will be since the build is essentially "done", but the one tube going over the ram sticks so closely bothers me a bit. If one goes bad or you have to switch anything out or whatever, you have to drain your loop. It may be worth the slight inconvenience of changing the tube bend so it runs just under the dimm slots instead of over them. Can be pointless in the lifetime of the build or can potentially be a huge issue further down the line.
That definitely does not take away from your build, and i congratulate you on your definite future feature.
Wow. I cant believe i missed the NZXT Elite. That's damn near perfect. If only i could do something about that black outline on the glass panel, and i guess i have to find paint suitable for rubber for the feet/headphone holder.
Great build but i never understood why people only show sexy angles and fancy shots. Sometimes i just want a plain-jane picture front and center with no side panel to have a gander at the pc's guts.
I like cool shots and great lighting too, but i also try to capture all the information in one photo for reference (you never know who you might inspire)
After all you're going to be looking at the pc front and center or close to that in person.
Honestly, i havent played enough to make a fair assessment. But what i have heard about is that there's somewhat of a pay to win thing going on, where stuff players can grind for, others can just buy it. That plus the massive player base it once had has been decreased to a fraction of the old population.
That coupled with what i keep hearing about wild lands makes me really regret not going for the other game.
Still from what i've played, For Honor is a very unique game, f-ing beautiful, and it's definitely something i intend on finishing before moving on.
I was the fool that went with "For Honor".
Possibly even in 2 days as thats when the NDA lifts and many reviewers already have done their benchmarking or are hard at work as we speak.
Haha. I was rather up front with my pc build with my wife. I did start talking to her about a vanity room project ive been working on for her a few weeks ahead though. So she knows im not only spoiling myself, but also doing something for her.
Happy campers we are :)
Edit: Great use of the fans and case. I think the fans are awesome but if you dont have a case that reveals them in the front they'll all be stuck in exhaust formation ifyou try to make them show. Open/Glass front fixes that problem. Good stuff.
Exactly, this isn't meant to be the best, it's meant to be the best bang for your buck.
Good luck and have fun man. And remember that if you always wait for the best you'll never actually be satisfied nor have anything good.
Im so eager to finish my build. I literally feel like hopping over to microcenter and getting 7700k and z270 board and just calling it a day. I dont do a lot of productivity things anyway. But the suspense is killing for what seems like incremental gains in performance and probably drops in performance during gaming.
Actually they clocked it at 5.1 using liquid nitrogen... So really, nobody knows what regular consumers can overclock it to. With water cooling it can probably reach 4.4-4.7 max.
This is like the ideal gaming chip, right?
What kind of OC do you suspect it will have? Im considering that since my rig will mostly be for gaming. However i dont want to sacrifice too much clock speed since most games are optimized for single threaded performance at the moment.
Damn, the current information has me thinking that maybe a 7700k build is my go-to.
4 cores, fast cores.
It's not like im running a productivity based rig. I doubt i'll need an extra 4 cores anytime soon. Hmm.
Are future games going to be coded to better make use of octacore systems? Blah, im literally at the hardest crossroad in my life right now. (easy life huh? lol)
I see. Now going back to Ryzen, when the lowest chip revealed beat the 7700k, the kabylake chip was at 4.5.
Do you suspect that after overclocking the results will change drastically?
At worst the Ryzan 1700 vanilla can probably hit 4.0, while the kabylake has been proven to hit 5.0. How big of a difference do you suspect this will make?
This is the answer i was looking for, thank you and Ada for explaining.
Can you answer the first question?
I already knew the answer to the second, but i asked because it was left out of the conversation specifically in the context of gaming.
What about the core/thread ratio make it better for gaming versus other things?
And does clock speed not matter most for gaming?
Firefly Videocardz, relatively good and accurate with news gave us this: HYPE!!!
Apparently it wasn't supposed to be posted yet.
Also Amazon jumped the gun with this: ZOMG1!!!
How is your strix-e board? I heard some less than favorable things on newegg.
Bluetooth working? Buggy?
Lighting profiles? Color? Intensity? I'm worried about it being too washed out, and not being able to hit neon colors, like yellowish green for example.
Other bells and whistles? Pros cons?
Sorry to unload questions on you, usually it's customary to include explanations for your choices in the details section, so maybe you'd like to address some of these there. This is a really nice mid-high end build and with a couple more pics and details you could definitely be featured for your nice clean build.
Yeah with that amount of oversight, there is a form of cause for concern about future issues.
Here are a few pictures
I'm 100% sure I'm not.
This is the strix card with the fans that light up on the bottom and the RGB ROG logo on the backplate on top.
The republic of gamers logo near the power cable ports is upside down. Like if someone held the card upside themselves and placed it like that.
It looks so tacky.
Disregard that last bit. I just found the ROG swift ips for $727. Just 50 dollars over the TN panel is okay, especially if i plan to switch mobos to something cheaper.
I was keeping it low key until it was done, but sometimes you have to sacrifice that for the sake of good work.
This is the list, and keep in mind that in the future i will upgrade the AIO into a custom UV clear-green loop.
Im pretty much set on every part except the mobo at this point.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
The build is mainly black with very light touches of neon green. In theme with a certain monster from monster hunter. This is a build that I've fleshed out since like September, and each of my part lists reflect small changes until this point.
Key note: I wanted the MSI M7 board but i lost interest when i heard about the limited options for the rgb colors and crap software without any fixes on the horizon.
Edit: Yes i'm aware the RAM is pricey as fawk but it was the first piece to this build and I'm very solid on keeping it.
Also taking suggestions for monitors that are 1440p, 144 hz, ips , low response time/input lag and g/free sync if there is one out there.
Well, on second thought, the hero does have a price point between strix and formula, so maybe you could elaborate. Really, I'd be willing to consider any maximus ix line of boards or strix boards (atx sizes) if they meet the aesthetic standard and have some good functional stuff on it.
My computer at home sucks and with my limited website access at work it's hard to find a source that compares all the asus z270 boards.
I really only want to know the differences between these two boards (Strix-E and Formula). Anything else i've already considered and it doesnt fit my aesthetic.
The reason being?
Regarding the cooler, how much does it push on the ram sticks? I will give up aesthetics on my build if functionality is at risk.
Is that the "brown-gray-black" color they have? Last i checked ikea barely had black furniture.
How can i get some social security? Need me an overkill build
Actually i saw someone else's build with a really good camera and great lighting. The RAM has the color im looking for in the right shade. But you did say the lighting profiles can only be changed with the unreleased software... Hmm decisions, decisions.
Is there an eta on that software?
Do you think more ram is necessary or is 16 okay for now?
I should mention that a lot of the parts were chosen to meet the color scheme. Black plus green. Maybe i should have mentioned it in the original post.
Not a lot of higher end parts with green in it, and the few i found of course had to be expensive due to RGB leds etc.
My wattage is 400 or so, and from what ive read on here 50% power consumption is the sweet spot for PSU efficiency.
I very much like the case so i want that to stay. Realistically speaking im pretty much paying a premium for aesthetics.
If you can think of any other changes, i'll gladly consider them.
Is it as "washed out" or "whitish" as it looks on camera or is it very solid? Is that what you mean the software will fix? Thats pretty much my biggest concern.
I have been considering RGB ram, however i feel like these are a bit "washed out" kind of pale and minty, if you get what i mean. Is it possible to keep this a static neon color, like green perhaps?
Black and green flavors. Green/black cables, and pretty much any rgb i could throw in for more green. So asus strix green setting, msi m7 z270 green setting, and the Avexir ram sticks. Then the nzxt aio cooler rgb leds (mirror style) also green and the case is the Enthoo Evolv, black. Its basically a solid black build with green leds. Will also add TT Riing rgb fans.
In the future i will also upgrade aio into custom watercooling, going for clear uv green cooling.
I hope thats enough information from which to make a decision. I do eventually plan to sell/scrap everything to make a new build so rgb would be great.
Im just asking for opinions and in the end i may just buy both types of ram sticks lol
Woah! Thanks for this comment. I would certainly love to have these for my WIP build.
I've been planning on using Avexir's Green Tesla Plasma sticks, at DDR4 3000. Do you think i should stick with those or future proof with these RGB ram sticks. (i do plan to sell my current wip build or at least scrap it to fund my next one)
Further, do you know of any other incoming rgb ram sticks? These look cool but the jagged edges kind of turn me off.
Honestly this list looks pretty much set. If anything I would cut out the headset for now, or just do a few extra chores and save for a little while longer. It's hard to shave this down anymore without impacting performance.
Edit: Actually you could try getting the CPU from Microcenter. An i7 7700k alone goes for about 329.00. They even give you bundles on MOBO + CPU effectively dropping your cost by a total of 70-100. You may have to search for a different mobo that they are bundling. But they have tons of options all with great prices.
Actually, having taken my time and really REALLY looked, i found a few options for 144hz + 1440p monitors. Unfortunately it still stands that these 2 specs currently do NOT come in curved screen formats.
The best i could find was curved screen + 1440p +100hz. Which, imo, is not worth the fps loss, especially for my upcoming monster build.
