About 3 years, bought it new.

Ye obviously the chip itself didn’t overheat because of that feature; the fans turned on at 55.

But the feature was designed with ambient case airflow in mind, meaning without it things like the VRMs would have almost never been cooled.

Yea, I think it was because most of the time the GPU's fans weren't running; not ideal in a case with no case fans.

the tier list is overrated/not worth using

If there is a resource, there are people saying it's flawed. I just thought I couldn't go terribly wrong by following that.

550w is still 200w over the site estimate

Couldn't give a dam about the watts just got the 600w because then if they wanted to use a dual chip AMD card in the future that's possible ^

It's not all about the GPU temps, an open style card would blow all the air into the case whereas a closed would blow it out.

jumping straight in to a 6 core is around the same price

Oh wow it is as well, might go for that

the psu is a little overpriced

I was just going off the legendary tier list, on another build I had a 980 Ti actually set on fire, it was an MSI card as well so I half think it was the PSU; really I just went overkill because the internet says to aha

ssd is a bit pants

Thanks; I'll update that!

difference between that and a 1080 is not worth the upgrade cost

Yea; it's weird they made two cards so close to each other in performance.

Ah I didn't even think of load impacts since I figured nobody would really use it; but the few people who deliberately put the system under load would. :(.

Is the data that you need to keep separate all in separate tables or certain columns? If it was only a few columns it would be very cool to be able to see the data without that in CSV form or as an SQL dump so we could do the same but not on live data. Maybe if it updated once a day or smth and was a download link somewhere?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Typing Speed and Accuracy"

QWERTY

Just thousand of hours of practice, I don't really touch type in a formal way but I use all my fingers and I don't need to look at the keyboard, accuracy depends on the keyboard.

Deep keys like the K95 I get 85 WPM, super low button press times like the new MBP 95 ish WPM.

These are max values if I'm not really in the mood I get like 80 and 90 WPM.

Is the radiator using recycled air from the PSU or visa versa? If the later than do you have issues with overheating PSU?

Poorly price and bad are the same thing in my eyes, I'm talking price/performance wise. And if you don't trust second then fair enough, I just had to say something because second hand parts (in the UK at least) is like twice the FPS/£ so it's a no brainer unless you're going flagship.

I'd see if you can get a 2nd hand graphics card, 390 level or higher, then upgrade the processor later.

EDIT: To re-iterate, really do not get a new bad graphics card like the 470, graphics cards are the easiest things ever to buy second hand and you could find a 980 or r9 nano if you're lucky, you'll at least get a 390

For two 580s the system draw will be around 447w, so 500w should do fine.

Also DX12 adoption is an inevitability, the 11 before it have been adopted after all, don't see why this would be an exeption.

It's more about resolutions over 1080p, which everyone will eventually upgrade to, and it means that with the addition of a second 580 you'll be able to crush 1440p.

But again small tweak, only if the OP has money to spend.

And shave $50 off the video card

I would recommend:

  • Getting an SSD
  • Spending less on the power supply
  • Getting a much better graphics card
  • Spend less on the processor, maybe get a non-OC i5 and a much cheaper motherboard
