Comment reply on Forum Topic "CPU Cooler needed for my AMD Ryzen 5 2600 build."

I would recommend the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi. A beastly CPU cooler with tasteful RGB integration and keeps my overclocked Ryzen 5 1600 at a cool idle temp of 25 degrees Celcius. I've never seen my CPU go above 60 even on 100% usage. The only factor affecting your decision is height clearance. Please list the case model so we can cross-check compatibility.

Nice PC as your first. Only thing I could complain about are the fans. If it were me, I'd relocate the vanilla Phanteks fan to the rear and swap it with the RGB fan for better cohesion.

With all custom built PC's, Windows 10 will have to be installed yourself. This PC has a 6-core processor and a GTX 1060. Fortnite runs on Ultra easily and so does CSGO (300fps+). I haven't done extensive testing as of yet, but this PC can handle any games in 1080p at high settings above 60fps. For Fortnite and CSGO, I'd recommend a Quad core cpu and a GTX 1050ti.

I guess its fine, considering the main use for this PC is for work/productivity. Thanks.

So what I did was update the BIOS and install the drivers for the chipset. CS:GO now runs at 250-300fps on ultra. It will occasionally dip down to below 200 which i find odd but now all in all, running fine. I appreciate the response.

Those are the videos I watched too. And little did I know the CPU cooler would be mounted the way it did. But thankfully I bought an extra fan which I placed on the top as exhaust. So what ever air is being sucked in by the CPU cooler, the top exhaust fan is blowing out.

Thanks man. Yeah it is because of the AMD mount which came with the cooler. It didn't allow for vertical orientation. However if it were an Intel CPU, The orientation would be otherwise.

I'm quite happy with them. Unfortunately you can't have them do multiple colours at once I believe. Quality is good and each comes with screws for fan and radiator mounting. Be wary of clearance for top fan mounts tho. Some cases, such as this once which isnt very tall, can be quite a squeeze!

The AMD bracket which comes with the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi doesn't allow for vertical orientation. I was hoping it would've been vertically mounted, but now that I think about it, this not only looks good, but performs good too. There is positive air pressure in the case as I have that top fan exhausting air too.

It was a temporary choice as GPU prices are through the roof. The 6GB version was going for $200 more. I don't think it's worth the 10-15% performance increase. Would you agree?

You could go for an I5-6500 or I5-6600k as they share the same socket with your current processor. Your R9 390 is still a great card today, although power consumption is greater than its relatively newer counterparts.

I've ordered the same CPU cooler. I'm thinking of swapping out the fan for a Corsair ML120, have to see first if it'll work. A little modding goes a long way.

This a gorgeous build! I'm about to start putting mine together and it'll have a very similar layout, except I have a Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi and not an AIO. My one question would be in-regards to the ML120/140 fans you have installed. I've ordered 2 of each and just want to know if you've experienced any issues with them, in terms of noise? There are some forums where people have reported "ticking" noises.

Sounds great! DDR4 operates at 2133MHz on default, but you should have no problem running it at advertised speed. If it doesn't, then you can return your RAM modules for modules that do work.

Since that's a 1080p monitor, I'd suggest going for a GTX1060 3GB/6GB. It'll pair nicely with that CPU and you'll be able to get some solid overclocks on that CPU with that cooler for added performance. Be sure your RAM is operating at its advertised speeds too, although I would've opted for 2666/3000MHz, 2400will do the job.

I could have probably gotten away with a 1050TI with 1080p but I couldn't seem to justify paying $300 for a GPU that's simply 'meh'. In 1080p, it just scrapes 60fps in some games and in others it lacks. GTX1060 comfortably does well over 60fps on Ultra in most games at 1080p. I will upgrade my GPU in the future once GPU prices settle down (if), most likely will buy a GTX1070 or the like.

Thankyou so much for your suggestions. I ordered 8GB of 3000MHz. Unfortunately I already ordered the cooler. The GTX1060 3GB will be used for light gaming in 1080p for now. Once GPU prices dip down, I'll upgrade to something more suitable for 1440p, along with a 1440p monitor as an upgrade. Oh and I also ordered a 1TB HDD, forgot to add it in build.

You won't be able to overclock on that motherboard, so perhaps splash out extra bucks on a B350 for more future proofing. You can go with the new 2400G with the build in Vega graphics, or I'd buy a GTX1050.

Over-the-top PSU, but great for future upgradeability. great combination of hardware. To spice things up in your build, perhaps get some braided cables and clean up cable management. All-in-all, well done.

You should check out GTX980 benchmark videos on youtube. Specifically have a look at VRAM and RAM allocation while running games and see if your VRAM caps in certain games when playing in high-ultra settings. Since you have 4GB of VRAM, perhaps the 16GB of RAM will improve performance in games. I'm not too knowledgeable in this field.

From what I've seen, you can't go past 3.7GHz on the 1600 with the stock cooler. The air cooler should allow it to overclock higher, hopefully 3.8GHz, and provide better CPU temps overall.
