So this card. My first card after a 500 series. I know right I was behind. So this card is pretty STEALTH if you ask me. When on idle like now the fans do not spin until I think its at 40c but im not 100% sure. This card makes no noise period and looks sexy. I will for sure put another in for SLI. Good job ASUS!!!

Great 1080p card for modern gaming. With just a little overclock it runs everything I throw at it on high to ultra settings.

GTX 970 is probably the best bang for your buck. Great value and pretty future-proof, at least for a while. Sure, 980 is better, but also costs an arm more. Sure there's titans out there, but who has $3k to drop on a GPU? This thing can kick some modern butt. When games start slowing it down in the future, just SLI to pick up the slack.

Absolutely amazing piece of equipment. I've tested a few games on it so far and have had no problems at all. Ultra settings 60+ fps.

Snagged a great deal on this card (the price listed on here doesn't include the rebate, which was either $10 or $20... can't remember). It's handled everything I've thrown at it so far very well and it takes a lot for the fans to kick on. I noticed today that it's been running kind of hot with minimal load (around 67C while just using a few tabs on Google Chrome), but again that's without the fans on. Once I turn those on at 40% it quickly drops to the 30s. It was idling in the upper 40s/lower 50s when I first installed it, so I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe the new monitor?
EDIT: Definitely the dual-monitor setup. Using the Multi Display Power Saver configuration via Nvidia Inspector now, and I've dropped to a cool 47 C with the GPU fans off.

This card is a massive powerhouse that's super cool and very quiet. There are a few key points that make this my top pick for the GTX 970 series.
Firstly - a single 8Pin power connection. Unlike when you attach a 6pin with the 2pin folded up or tucked around itself the 8pin just makes a build so much cleaner.
Secondly - It overclocks like a beast. Don't let that single 8-pin fool you, this card can OC like a champion and it's a great way to give yourself that 60fps stable bump in some games while you're using the V-Sync option.
Thirdly - The cooler. Asus make a big deal about it being quiet which is great, but this thing is also really cool. 67 degrees while doing some heavy gaming in a room thats 27 degrees base temp - and that's in the 88r which doesn't have the best airflow - noise wise the front fan in the chassis is louder than the GPU.
Finally - Looks. With the backplate and chrome piping it's certainly the center of attention when anyone looks in through the window.
I do use other cards in my builds, but whenever possible I'll use this one )

Gets good frame rates on the division, has a good price, and is silent for the most part (fans only run under a mid to high load).

I got a good deal on it and was looking for something to pair with my other 970. I really like the looks of the Strix cards. Also it doesnt clash or draw attention away from the Fallout 4 970.

Haven't pushed it yet, but for minecraft and basic internet surfing this thing doesn't even run the fans, I love that. Will try to update later with more impressions.

Ah yes, the part of the build that turns this from a humble web browser into an amazing editing and gaming machine. This rocks! Comes with 2 week xsplit membership, is extremely quiet when the fans spin, and it is so strong!
