For the motherboard, I had to go with Asus Prime Z370 since it would work perfectly with the black and white theme of the build. Not to mention it's Aura Sync RGB capabilities and the very respectable overclocking performance of the VRM's.
Great motherboard for the price but i took one star off because the IO shield has tabs on it got in the way of installation
Seems good! Haven't had any issues. The only thing moderately annoying was the I/O Panel Shield, as it seemed kind of flimsy, and the tabs needed to be bent up to allow the motherboard to insert properly.
Asus Prime Z370-A - Works as it should no complaints.
Just what I was looking for
BIOS is great and easy to use for a first time overclocker, individual fan control is also convenient and the fan profiles work well keeping my PC silent. Runs my RAM at 3200 no problem.
I really like the look and the BIOS is easy. Wish it had more than two USB 2.0 headers though
I really like this board a lot! Very easy to use. I don't fully utilize overclocking tools (locked CPU), but auto-overclock of memory and fan controls work great. The board does push FSB to 102.5, which puts the i5 8400 up to 4.1 GHz.
Solid motherboard with great features, and surprisingly good onboard sound if you're interested in that. My only issue was that I experienced problems using the first M.2 slot and chose to use the second slot to cut my troubleshooting process short, but it's fine otherwise. I particularly like that the USB 3.0 connector is horizontal, so it's very easy to plug in the front panel cable; it also comes with an easy adapter for the tiny front panel connectors.
Everything about this motherboard is great, and it works very well. I would give it four star if i wanted to go SLI because the second PCI slot is an 8 PCI.
