Thank you for this! This issue came up for me with my old build about motherboard m.2 slot only shares one sata 6.0 Gb/s port and the other one could be disabled? I'm not true I know what that means but I'm assuming it means I'd only be able to use 1 m.2 and I couldn't use two in the future

Motherboards have 6 SATA channels. Each M.2 drive will use two of those each. So if you added two M.2 drives you would only be able to add two more SATA drives for a total of four drives. On some motherboards only the first M.2 slot will use the much faster PCIe and the second one will run as a SATA drive. But that is not true of all boards
