Can I put one GPU on any PCIe 4.0 x16 slot?

When I put my GPU on the first slot, it covers the fan on the motherboard, I'm wondering if I can put the GPU on the second slot and leave the first slot empty. ASUS Prime X570 Pro has (3) PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. Thanks in advance!

Yes you can.

Do keep in mind however, the second slot is PCIe 4.0 x 8 and the third slot down is only x4. so don't be surprised for most GPU's if you see if as PCIe 3.0 x 8 (PCIe 4.0 for those few that support it) being shown in something like GPU-Z

Not much of an issue however as even PCIe 4.0 x 8 (well Gen 3.0 x 8) is fine for most GPU's only a very small impact with even a 2080Ti.
