Upgrading from 2400G APU to better CPU and GPU for $300?

Maybe my biggest mistake is that APU isn't cutting. I just built this PC about 1 month ago. I was very satisfied with my PC, but Beam.NG Drive hitting me hard. I want to upgrading from 2400G APU to better CPU and GPU for $300.

For $300 just go for a good gpu like the https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GzPgXL/evga-geforce-gtx-1660-super-6-gb-sc-ultra-gaming-video-card-06g-p4-1068-kr for example and save up for a better cpu later.

But I need to upgrading the better CPU.... Beam.NG Drives is dependent on the CPU.

At this moment you are limited because of the igpu from that 2400g so the 1660 super will be a huge upgrade and will give you a noticable difference in performance. Then just save up for a better cpu and you are set. Otherwise with $300 you will get a medicore cpu and a medicore gpu which you probably will want to upgrade again in the future.

That would work. You might see if you can land a 1700X used, as it may well clock higher than the 2700 if you have a half-decent cooler.

a 580 would require a increase in psu wattage

Not really no.
