Any advice on what ram to go with this PC list?

I am planning to make an AMD build. The parts are linked below. I bought the case and graphics card already (the graphics card was $190 so I saved $$$ before the gpu spike). I want some advice for what type of ram would go well with these parts. I am aiming for 16gb ddr4 2666-3200mhz. I will use this build for gaming and school work but mostly gaming. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tvjfsJ

If I were to use 8gb and wanted to add another 8gb down the road (making sure both were the same) would I just have to turn off, unplug, and open my pc and add the new stick?

no only off then open and add no unplug needed

Those modules (2x8Gb) would run at 2666MHz on that board.

If you go with (2x4GB) of the same, they will also run at 2666Mhz.

And if you overclock the processor, nothing is certain that 4 of those modules (2 kit of 2x4GB) will also run at 2666MHz.

I was hoping to just run the ram at 2666mhz. If I bought 2666mhz and pushed it to 2666mhz would it be stable (since that's what it is rated at) or should I go with 3000mhz to know that I could get 2666mhz easily? Is there a difference?

You could get those:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313772&cm_re=Team_T-Force_Vulcan_8GB_%282_x_4GB%29_288-Pin_DDR4_SDRAM_DDR4_2666_%28PC4_21300%29_Desktop_Memory_Model_TLGD48G2666HC15BDC01-_-20-313-772-_-Product

...that will work at 2666Mhz and you could get the below...

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313769&cm_re=Team_T-Force_Vulcan_8GB_%282_x_4GB%29-_-20-313-769-_-Product

that would run normally also at 2666MHz, perhaps at those exact timings.

Nothing is certain though, as the QVL list of the ram modules doesn't state anything about Team T-Force or Team Dark (doesn't matter actually which of those two models) at those higher speeds.

So, your best option would be to go with the 2666MHz modules. ;)

What about these ram sticks?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313785&cm_re=Team_T-Force_DARK_16GB_%282_x_8GB%29_288-Pin_DDR4_SDRAM_DDR4_2666_%28PC4_21300%29_Memory_%28Desktop_Memory%29_Model_TDRED416G2666HC15BDC01-_-20-313-785-_-Product

They are 2666mhz of 2x8gb and compatible with the QVL (unlike the 3000mhz of 2x8gb I had originally thought were compatible).

Yep, will work too at that speed. ;)

Note: Update the BIOS to the latest version.

Version 7A34vM4

Description

  • Improved memory compatibility.
  • Update AGESA Code 1.0.0.6b
