With a gtx1080ti you can game in 4K without problems but never get over 100fps. To put all the high end parts in a HTPC case is dificult. So I reccomend you the MiniITX format (the 2nd smallest one). So I included 2 builds, one with a FE 1080ti and a HTPC case. And another build with a MiniITX case and a custom 1080ti.

That'll be interesting to see a node 202 hold a GTX1080Ti, also works as a room heater!

  • 1 point

I have seen people building a GTX1070/1080 FE without problems in a NODE 202, but the problem with the FE in that case is the fault of space and his cooling system. It's for that I reccomend him to use a EVOLV Mini ITX.

Yeah, that's why I called it a room heater

i think the ram on the htpc is too overkill

  • 1 point

You said that you wanna play videogames in 4K, so the minium that you need is 16GB of RAM and a GTX1070/1080. But for secure good fps I picked the 1080ti.

He was saying why pay for RGB RAM in a Node 202. Good point. I did the same thing with my Motherboard selection down below lol.

  • 1 point

My fault, 'cause i've done the miniITX build first and I dont changed the RAM. You can get about 20$ if you take the Corsair 2x8GB 3000Mhz without all the leds.

Card should be fine in there. I would set it up on end so it gets good airflow. You are going to want to attach the cooler to the panel above the CPU (top) so you have room for the GPU on the "bottom". (Which i s where radiators are normally mounted in this case.) Move the top fan to the free spot on the bottom to make more room for the CPU cooler. I don't know for absolute certainty you can fit both fans and the radiator on the top spot, but you should be able to as 25mm+25mm+25mm is still less than the max height of 83mm. Even if something interferes like maybe the tubing, you will be able to fit the radiator and a single fan no problem!

Excellent power supply with plenty of headroom is included. Enough storage for now and easily able to add more in the future. No plattered hdd's at all. No optical either. You can add one....don't know why you would want to though.

How super exciting. You had better take pictures!

Feel free to swap out the MOBO. An ROG Strix in this case is a bit ridiculous since you would never ever see it hahaha. Any z270 mini itx board will be fine I'm sure.

I went with a different than usual HTPC case since it does fit a ATX PSU and a ATX board but it is still a small case. It is quite expensive but it is a really nice HTPC case.

He wanted the SCIMITAR mouse: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Z3tWGX/corsair-mouse-ch9000091na

Interesting build. The case is top notch quality with beautiful tempered glass. They have a mounting hole in the center of the back so it can be wall mounted if you so desire.

I find some of the choices a bit lacking IMO. Not much choice if you want to go with a 1080 ti and that monitor though.

You are going to need more than 500GB of storage.
