Hi all, Does anybody know if it's possible to plug a 3 pin into a 4 pin and vice versa and still have the fan work? Thanks in advance!

I think the 4th pin on the 4 pin fan connectors is for PWM, so as long as you don't screw up the other pins, and leave that one out it should be fine.

This should help also:

Should work. All fan headers I have seen are 4 pin (At least on motherboards). Even 4 to 3 works I'm relatively confident.

A 3 pin fan connected to 4 pin header will work but probably without any sort of fan control, depending on motherboard.

A 4 pin fan connected to 3 pin header will also work but the fan will rotate at full RPM regardless of system load or temp.
