If you pull against the jack/trip on the headphone, yes, you can break it.

Constantly pulling it out and plugging it back in? Yes you can break it that way too depending on the situation.

Just do whatever makes you feel comfortable. : )

If you want to just keep them plugged in, but want to use your speakers you can open your play back device menu and just change your default device. that way you can keep them plugged in, but have sound play through your speakers.

No. I've been plugging my headphones into my smartphone at least 10 times a day for years.

Just don't pull it or trip on your headphones.

If you constantly remove and insert your headphones, it could cause the gold plating to wear off. I unplug them just in case a bad power surge comes through or my PC breaks and affects my headphones
