Description

UPDATE During some off time I was able to build a psu shroud, gpu backplate, And i/o cover from acrylic. I spray painted them black for a simple clean look but in the future I will definitely attempt a more advanced look.

Hello all,

I started this build a month or so after my long time computer I bought from Best Buy. (I was young and foolish, I'm sorry all pcmasterracers) The machine was great but after 5 years of constant use the cpu started to fail on me. I looked around for pre-built as I knew nothing about computers and could not find a build I liked.I wanted my own sense of customization. I began to do my research on everything about computers parts and how they work. Bringing us to today, my project Magenta. Soon enough I will have the parts for a custom water-cooled cpu and gpu loop also picking up a secondary card for buttery smooth 4k gaming.

I would highly recommend the parts that I used in this build, although next time I would use a 240mm or 280mm radiator instead of the h80i which is a 120mm only. Grabbing another SSD and m.2 would greatly increase the speeds of this system as well and I plan to do so in the future.

I'm unsure at this moment which my next cpu upgrade will be I am quite heavily into gaming/streaming but also content creation. With the new update of Ryzen and x299 platform my decision will be made later once the full details are released, I am mainly looking for a cpu that can provide endless frames and also excel in multithreaded workloads.

I will post pictures and keep the build up to date as I progress

Thank you for reading!

P.S. - the power supply was already pre-owned from a mining rig powering 4 Radeon 280x's.

Thank you very much, do you have any suggestions on where possible improvements?

you could have saved a bit of money not getting the 1200 watts.650 would have been a lot better and i recommend not getting 2 monitors that play at 60hz 144hz monitor with 1080p gaming from asus is only 254 dollars. For the ram unless you plan on OC 3200 is basically useless , could have gotten a 3000hz corsair with a white/red rgb for around 130 dollars which then you could have put into a better processor

I completely agree, I forgot to mention the 1200 watt was a hand me down from a bitcoin mining rig which powered by a few Radeon 290x's. Also I had pre bought one 60hz monitor before this computer was built and the other was apart of my secondary setup. I eventually moved and just added them together I plan on moving towards 2k or even 4k one day. I only just started this year but I caught the bug my next upgrade will be to an enthusiast platform or ryzen.

I just realized that I haven't updated it either. I've made a cpu and motherboard change since posting this. New photos soon

I don't know what happened that day, but the contrast is really good on them. I will be upgrading to the hue+ when the time comes for the rest of my newer components to come in.

This is a really nice build, I love the black and purple theme. The PSU shroud is something I wish Fractal Design would have though of so all of us could benefit from the hidden cables. If I had one made, I would probably drill holes in the top to let air flow from the bottom intake of the case onto the graphics card. Spray painting the IO covers is a great idea, I might do that myself as the white deviates from the black and red theme I have going. Curious to see what you will come up with next!

Thank you! For a first attempt it wasn't bad, and I do wish that they would have given us one, but what can we do. The silver on them really took away, but nothing black spray paint and acrylic can't fix. I plan to go on water soon so most of this will be upgraded as I've already started by going to team red with a 1700, aswell as a crosshair hero board. I'll add newer photos
