I've been a console gamer for the last 20+ years but I have always envied the PC games with their better graphics and better controls. When I finally bought a house with room for a desk, I convinced my wife that we needed a computer and that I needed to build it. I spent most nights trying to absorb as much information as I possibly could and watched just about every YouTube video out there. The Punisher theme came to me because a) he's my favorite and b) it suited my black and white build.
I was really surprised at how easy the whole build process was. I was worried that I was in over my head, but as long as you take your time, read the instructions, its simple. The hardest part of the entire build? CABLE MANAGEMENT. I feel like I spent an hour doing it and behind the motherboard still looks awful... I'm working on cleaning it up.
Great CPU for the price (I got it cheaper from Micro Center). I went with an i7 here because I wanted to future proof my build a bit and a K because I will be overclocking.
It fit the black and white theme of my build more than anything, so I figured I'd give it a try. Can't say enough good things about it. Keeps my CPU ice cold and is completely silent so a no brainer 5 star review here.
I originally bought the NZXT Kraken x61, but that night they released their new line of AIO coolers so I returned it and will await the reviews the new guys. I like the looks of AIO coolers and it will allow me to showcase the GPU cover a bit better.
I wanted a motherboard that wasn't black and red, so I went with this guy. The added aura lighting is a nice bonus but I already turned it off for now.
Runs at 3200 once you switch it over in the bios and is lightening fast. Matches my build perfectly and looks FANTASTIC.
Will be adding another one of these eventually, but for now this guy fits the bill perfectly.
This was the first part of my build I decided on and I couldn't be happier. Looks great, runs silent and crushes everything I throw at it in 2k. 120+ frames on BF1 on all ultra settings. Couldn't be happier.
This was the hardest part of the build to choose. I had the NZXT s340 Elite preordered, but the ship date kept getting pushed back. I canceled that and spent 3 straight days agonizing over what case to get. I wanted a square black box with a window and finally settled on this case. I absolutely love it. The fan controller feature is awesome, the LEDs look great and this case is near silent. As a first time builder, I appreciated how easy it was to build in. My only gripe was the instructions that came with the case, but I found some better ones on the Phanteks website.
Overkill for now, but I wanted to make sure I had enough juice to run another 1080 FTW in SLI. This PSU is first class from top to bottom. Plenty of spare cables, nice packaging and a sweet bag to keep all the stuff you're not using in.
Meh. Very ascetically pleasing, but the windows 10 anniversary update knocked out my wifi and screwed up a bunch of my drivers. Took forever to fix but I finally got everything worked out.
Wireless Network Adapter
Originally I purchased the AC55BT for its bluetooth capabilities and cheap price but I was getting TONS of packet loss and latency issues on BF1. I swapped it out for this guy which was significantly more expensive and lacked the bluetooth but fixed my packet loss. Highly recommend.
Love the feel of the keys and it looks cool, but two major complaints. 1) The software to change the RGB lighting on this thing suuuuuuuuucks. Clunky doesn't even begin to do it justice. 2) One of the "legs" that flips out in the back fell off somewhere for no reason and is gone which sucks because now it lays too flat for my liking
Cheaper mouse that fits my hand and doesn't have a million buttons on it. When it comes to a mouse, I subscribe to the "Keep It Simple Stupid" philosophy and this was perfect.
