Description

So I outgrew an old Gateway computer I was using as a file server and daily computer. Decided to build something dedicated for the house. All in all I love the build, I tried my best at managing those sata cables. I currently am using windows 8.1 as an os, but im going to play around with freenas before I switch over.

Cpu: Perfect for File Serving, I also won it on ebay for so it was a no brainer! Works really nice as a day to day computer cpu, wouldnt really game on it though.

Mobo: Found it in the clearance section of Microcenter, works really well, and has 6 sata 6gbps connectors...Score!!

Memory: a little overkill, but I still use this computer aside from file serving...

ssd: Holds the OS, and commonly used programs.

Hard drives: the greens hold my movies, music, tv shows that i have recorded on my PVR/HTPC/Gaming Build. the blue holds my wifes laptop back ups and my laptop backups. The ones with no prices came from my old Gateway PC

Case: I love that it holds 8 hard drives without it being overly large! Only thing was I wish the elite version would go on sale, but I dont use USB3 so it isnt an issue. Ill end up buying extra fans next time im at microcenter.

PSU: Plenty of connections for my hard drives.

Update: added some nzxt fans and a fan controller to quiet the build down. Found out the loudest fan was the stock CPU cooler so I added a new CPU cooler and I'm happier. Also stepped down the ram to 4gb.

Update 12/21/2014: Now this machine is running my Sickbeard, sabnzbd, and couch potato. The cpu and ram just weren't enough. I added an a8 6600k more cores= more process. and upped the ram to 8gb which helped this computer immensely especially with unpacking those par 2

Wow, great prices on everything! Thanks for mentioning freeNAS. I've never heard of it, but sounds like something I might want to mess around with at some point.
