Description

Finally put some work into the build. Upgraded the motherboard, power supply, video card, new hard drive, and new DVD burner. CPU is running great at about 1.45-1.475 V-Core 4.0Ghz clock. Overclocked the memory to run at 1600Mhz @ 9-9-9-24. Upped the GPU to 1000 Mhz on the GPU core clock. Have it running everything I throw at it with good frames on 1080p maxed I am satisfied. Would love to put some cash toward a new motherboard for better cable management but its working fine as is.

could have gotten a better case and a cpu, but otherwise this is a great build

Thanks bud, yeah I was gonna upgrade the case instead of the hard drive but the hard drive definitely showed a performance gain in load times and some other places. Went from a 5400rpm 2.5" Seagate Laptop drive 500GB with an 8mb cache it was alright but definitely slower. CPU I'm caught in a spot with upgrading to 1155 is too much cash for me right now, 250~ for a good Z77 board and i5-3570k at the microcenter deal, and I was glancing at the FX-4300 or maybe the future FX-4320 but honestly I'm getting some great scores with my 965 at 4.0Ghz that I'm not gonna **** around too much in that area for now.

I would suggest waiting for haswell to upgrade your cpu, it will show a definite performance improvement over ivy bridge

For sure, being a tock in the tick-tock cadence.

Why did't you get the 7850 with 2GB of memory? It's only like $20 more. And a better CPU would have been nice.

Had this CPU for a bit, since before the Piledrivers were out, the 7850 with the 2GB of memory doesn't show too much of a performance gain when compared with the 1GB versions as shown in benchmarks if much of any, I got what was cheapest, the card at the time of buying was 160 bucks, can't beat that for a 7850.

Hows the GPU? HEard that HIS' brand sucks, that it crashes your PC all the time. Is it true?
