Description

Used mainly for gaming and programming. Gets the job done. This was an upgrade from my old 1150 system. I re-used the case, storage, fans, optical, power supply that I had bought in March of last year.

The images of the CAM software show at idle then another under the stability test of AIDA64.

Chip overclocks very nicely while staying cool. Would definitely recommend it.

Oh ya I know. I'm running the same chip at 4.5 GHz as well. :)

A bit overkill on the PSU but everything else looks really good.

The old build eventually had dual 780's on it and I have another 980 incoming.

  • 1 for the build, really impressed.

Had to comment cause my kid saw you're case fans towards the front of your side panel and decided they were frightening. Title well earned.

I finally understand why people get nit-picky but... Why the 4X4 RAM? Why not 2X8?

Well, the support for Quad Channel is there and at the moment 16gb is all I need, if I need more I'll just pick up a new Quad Kit.

Depends on the motherboard you choose, it should have wireless a/b/g/n listed somewhere in the specifications if it has it.

Hi dumb question but will the Kraken fit in the Storm Trooper? Yea I know there the same cases just different color.

Just want to make sure.

I really wanted the Stryker but not going to spend $189 for it when I can get the same case but in black for $149. Why is the Stryker so much more? only thing different is the color :( makes no sense.

From another post on the forums here http://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/23855-cm-storm-trooper-vs-cm-storm-trooper-stryker

Color: Obviously, the Trooper is black while the Stryker is a white-black contrast
Window: Again pretty obvious, the Trooper does not have a window while the Stryker does (although you can buy a black windowed side panel - also from the Cooler Master online store)
Front panel eSATA: the Trooper has 2 eSATA ports on the front panel while the Stryker does not

Aesthetics is up to you, but in terms of practicality, the two share the same specs (including 2.5" hot swap bay) and have the same compatibility except for the front eSATA. On the Stryker the front panel PCB does not have those connectors, and the spots on the case for those ports are uncut.

Front panel eSATA connects to a standard motherboard SATA port, so all it really does is bring one of your SATA ports to the exterior. If you need eSATA and don't have a motherboard with rear I/O eSATA, then this can be useful. But if you have that rear eSATA on your board or you don't need eSATA, then I wouldn't factor the Trooper's eSATA into your buying decision at all. Deciding on the two imo should be based purely on aesthetics if front eSATA doesn't matter to you.

Down the road I do plan to still get the Stryker cause I want 2 computers,1 for gaming the other as a server and other stuff plus something for my niece and sister to use when they visit :)
