THE $4K 4K BUILD

My first build. It ended up being a lot more than I imagined, but then again so was the price. This build is gonna be used mostly for gaming and also some light editing. I started with a 2k budget but over half a year of planning it slowly grew with the addition of a custom loop, 1080ti, and aesthetic appeal. Building the computer was fun and not as scary as I first thought it to be. The only issue I ran into was cable management on the 570x. Stuffing the back cover with wires proved challenging. I'm also planning to add a front cover for the PSU shroud to hide any wires showing from the front. The custom cabling was what I invested most my time in. I'd say it was well worth the time and effort. The components took about 4 hrs to put together, but the watercooling took about 8 hrs because of bending, installing blocks, installing pump/res, and the radiators. I also had to drill holes into the backside so I could mount the pump/res. The FTW3 is quite long and the pump/res wouldn't fit if mounted to the bottom or front radiator. Hardline watercooling wasn't that difficult. The only issue I ran into was putting two bends very close to each other. Also I had a minor scare when the CPU outlet leaked when I was filling the loop, but it was only because the fitting wasn't twisted tight enough.

OC to 5 GHz. Used Adaptive Voltage which saved a lot of time vs manual.
CPU Idle: 37°C
CPU Load: 76°C
With stock cooler and settings, the graphics card ran hot, with temperatures hitting 85°C in a game of PUBG. After watercooling, temps wouldn't go over 60°C. I overclocked to 2075 MHz Core Clock and 5700 MHz Memory Clock. I'm sure I could still overclock it a bit more but I'm too lazy. Used Precision XOC which isn't as good as Afterburner in my opinion, but I wanted to stick with EVGA software to take advantage of the iCX sensors and avoid any potential compatibility issues.

GPU Load: 55°C
OC to XMP setting of 3200 MHz.
The PNY CS2030 m.2 benchmark results were poor. Most of the speeds in the Crystal DiskMark were half of what was advertised. For some reason AS SSD had worse results and the results didn't match Crystal DiskMark results. I would stay away from their products, at least their SSDs
Not much to say about the 7700K. Enough cores to get the job done. Was the price point I was looking at because I didn't want to spend more for a higher core count and then have to spend more on a motherboard. Runs the 5 GHz OC without an issue.
Easy to apply and have a lot left for future use.
My favorite Z270 board. The build quality of the board is amazing, its got nice accented rgb leds, good looking armor, built in wifi and bluetooth and it can be watercooled. What else could you want?
Stunning RGB ram. I had heard that their software was horrible so I stayed away from it and used AURA. Haven't really messed around with all the lighting options but looks like there are a lot.
With NAND prices through the roof, it made sense for me to wait for an m.2 to go on sale. Takes about 10 seconds to boot.
Wanted to but the founders edition 1080ti, but a week before I was planning to build the pc, B&H ran out of all the FE cards and I needed the card soon, so I just got the FTW3. Buying from another site wasn't really an option because tax on a $700 product is killer. This length of this card is the reason i couldn't use a traditional mounting method for my pump/res. I also wish the backplate LED would stay lit with the stock cooler removed.
I LOVE THIS CASE. Glass everywhere, 3 visible front fans, and the appearance of the glass "floating" really got me into this case. Yes, the cable management kinda sucks, with only one cover on the back to fit all the cables into. Also they really should have covered the front of the PSU shroud and put grommets for the cables going from the motherboard down under the shroud.
Nice build quality. The eco mode keeps the fans running only when they need to, which keeps the case quiet under low load which is nice.
Nice case fans. A bit pricey, but they have a lot of different options for speed, color, and mode. I wish the motherboard could program them or you could use AURA instead of having to buy the expensive Corsair Commander.
The LEDs are nice and there are a lot of different options for lighting. The software is confusing and it uses molex which is annoying.
Got this on sale. Wasn't sure if I wanted to go with a high refresh rate monitor or a 4K monitor, but I ended up going with this. Amazing picture quality and it has a lot of setting to mess around with. Might upgrade when a 4K monitor with a high refresh rate comes out.
Wanted to go with a Corsair keyboard because of lighting customization and ended up with this one. The wrist rest is comfortable, nice brushed metal, and A LOT of options for lighting in their software. Comes with onboard memory to save lighting profiles on them, however only basic lighting profiles can be stored on it.
The G502 feels nice in the hand, has lots of macros, and the wheel is fun to mess around with. Haven't used the software, but there really isn't a need to.
Got the job done. Easy to use.
Since it was my first time doing water cooling I thought I might need this to get those perfect 90 degree bends, but they were less than 90 degrees. Didn't really try out the other angles. Also it is meant for PETG, however the deburring tool made the cuts rougher. Wouldn't recommend.
Exactly the color I wanted. Price is good and its easy to make.
Great combo deal on Amazon. Wanted to make my own headset because I have heard that gaming headsets are marked up in price a lot and so I made my own with a nice headset and mic.
Had a base to stand on, 2 different heat settings. I ended up using the high heat setting because the low took too long. I had no overheated or underheated bends which was nice.
