Back round Story

This computer took me 4 months to build because well i make 8.50 an hour and work about 12 hours a week plus birthday money and attend high school but i didn't let that stop me from building a great system and step up i been computer gaming since i was 2 when i used to play children games on my moms old windows 98 computer then in 4th or 5th grade my dad and his friend built me a gaming rig with a Intel quad core and a Geforce 9600 gt graphic card. i love that computer even though i played only a few games i am 18 years a old that computer is still running today not fast enough for the new games but good enough for internet browsing and doing some homework on so i decided it was time for a new computer i never built a computer of my own and i was excited to jump into it sense i always had a passion for technology especially computers so i started on Black Friday and got really good deals (all the prices listed is what i really payed but that doesn't include rebates or taxes and prices that are 0.00 where gifts from friends) once i ran up of money the deals where over but i just saved up more money and asked people for advice in classes I'm taking for computers called A+ computer repair and of course advice outside of class i also had some supports for some items such as my key board and mouse was a gift from my family for Christmas and my fans a friends ordered them for me for my birthday and where shipped i couldn't be more happier with these gifts and there support let me tell you so lets start with my review of all these parts. a monitor is coming soon and i will take more pictures of my set up later on right now my desk set up is not the greatest but i will keep you guys posted the the fans look blue for some reason because i used my phone to take the pictures (phone camera is CRAPPY) but i do have a blue LED light in there that i custom made took the light out of a old wine cooler we where throwing away and custom made it to fit my PC very bright LED light strip probably because they LED are on a PCB board and not in a strip definitely worth making then buying 15 dollars ones that are not even bright and the blue led with white fans is a good Combo to me looks great.

sorry for the bad grammar and punctuation

LEAVE ME COMMENTS AND LOTS OF QUESTION BELOW (:

So i got some updates on the rig just finished my set up and i switched out my keyboard for a razor i couldn't help myself LOL but Enjoy the new pictures (:

Part Reviews

CPU

i love Intel and this CPU is great for the price very powerful nothing stops it 10/10 simple as that.

CPU Cooler

i heard good and bad things about it i picked it up at best buy and so far no problems with it at all i do have corsairs link installed and running its a nice application to monitor your computers temps the pump is a little noisy but my case muffles out the sound and water cooler pumps usually make some noise as i have been told

Motherboard

i was gonna go with the AsRock Extreme 4 but seeing the mixed reviews on it on new egg saying they where very faulty boards because of a manufacturer mistakes i didn't wanna take a chance so i payed about the same price for the AsRock extreme 6 but it was worth it great well made board for the price i payed will buy AsRock products again.

Memory

I went with faster memory and a lots of memory i didn't feel like upgrading it anytime soon but at first i was gonna get 4 sticks of ram that equal 16 gbs but my computer teacher recommended me this ram and said i could upgrade later and that it was faster and in the future and not it will preform better so i bought all of it to save me the hassle of upgrading later great ram no problems with it.

Storage

my secondary storage you may agree or disagree on it but i like it i a lot people have told me why didn't i just get a one 3TB drive 3 drives in raid 0 isn't much faster then one and BLAH BLAH BLAH but i didn't what i wanted and got 3 drives and raid 0 them because 1 it looks cool and 2 it cost me about the same amount of money to get just one 3TB drive and later on in the future i will upgrade my secondary storage to an SSD i'm hoping they will drop in price over time other then that the drives run great and are fast love WD drives wouldn't buy anything beside there drives.

Video Card

this was a very hard decision for me and was one of the things at the end of my list that i bought because i couldn't make up my mind it was either a 2 970s or a 980 ti and after doing some research and talking to people i went with a 980 ti because i wanted this computer to be future proof and since the 980 ti has a lots of vram which is going to be required a lot more in newer games i got this instead this card is very powerful and right now i play on 1080p at 60hz as of right now which i know is nothing for this card because its a 4k gaming card

Case

Love this case very clean and sleek looking and also very good quality for being a high air flow case it is still very quite i love the dust filters on it makes my OCD feel great but the only thing i got to complain about is the front panel wires they could be a little longer i wont take a star off for that.

Power Supply

it preforms well but the fan makes a weird and very faint click type of noise not sure why but you cant hear it while its in the case unless you put your ear up on the case and listen very closely if anything happens this PSU got a 10 year warranty i'm not sending it back for a stupid super quite noise.

Operating System

I was using a torrent copy of windows 7 then my files got corrupted so i was tired of reinstalling windows so i got myself a copy of windows 10 and it is a great OS to me i love the Xbox app since i am a console fan also so i can talk to my friends on console while i play PC

Case Fan

Great Moves lots of air and look good

Case Fan

Wish they had a 4 pin connector and not a 3 so u could control them from corsair link threw my H100i gtx then i would of never bought a fan controller without the controller they run at full speed and are very loud it sucked when i was not gaming and just internet browsing and watching movies other that that they preform well

Fan Controller

easy to install has a nice clean look to it works well

Mouse

very responsive for a wireless mouse Logitech did a good job on this one

+1, feel you man. $8 an hour and high school isn't a great combo. It's been 5 months and my build's still not done, lol.

Yeah definitely I finished it faster then I thought I would because I had more money support then my job I sold a few things plus I got birthday and Christmas money all that helped a lot if it wasn't for gifts and Craigslist I would still be building it

how'd you connect all of the fans if the motherboard only has two slots? Im wondering how to fix that problem for my build.

Well it was a good read, until i saw that the PSU is a "NEX" instead of a "G2". Besides that part everything else looks good, enjoy your build mate!

I was gonna get a G2 it was more monew this power supply was a steal to me everything about them to me seemed similar what's the difference?

Not sure if it's allowed to link other websites here but I post this as an explanation. http://www.overclock.net/t/1476935/why-you-should-not-buy-an-evga-supernova-nex650g-750g-aka-g1

  • 1 point

so the voltage isn't regulated enough or something or is it regulated to much???

  • 1 point

From what I gathered, the NEX is a cheaper version of the G2 in terms of build quality and it's overpriced. Also, the PSU is the last build part anyone would want to save some money on.

The NEX G has 100% Japanese capacitors and solid build quality, and Chinese capacitors these days are not even as bad as they used to be. In addition, voltage regulation is well within speciciation. Overclock.net always releases these annoying "Why you should not buy this power supply" forum posts, which are often quite silly IMO.

It's within ATX specification. Just because it's not fantastic doesn't mean it's not bad.

its been just about 2 or 3 years now since i had this power supply and its been great ii have my cpu over clocked as well as my gpu no issues idk what this man was talking about this power supply also stays very cool compared to the G2 and comes with a longer warranty
