Description

Built this in December of 2011. It's mainly used for Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and Maxwell Render. Architectural/design software mostly rely on a fast processor and adequate RAM, so the system is mostly built around a the processor. Also plays TF2 just fine. Not listed is the graphics station video card (PNY Quadro 600).

Looks like a nice build. And great job with the cable management too!

I built this almost a year ago as an architecture and graphics workstation and also as a RAID-1 backup. The video card I used isn't available on pcpartpicker (PNY Quadro 600). I mostly use Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and Maxwell Render. It's overclocked to 4.2 ghz and performs quite well.

So why is it a bad build?

i believe he meant bad for gaming, which is what most of the builds on here are made for. For your purposes, this is a great build, in my opinion

I meant bad for gaming. Sorry, I wasn't sure what you were using it for. In that case though, it's an excellent build! How does the Quadro run games anyway?

Oddly, not bad. I play TF2 pretty much exclusively and I get 60-80 fps on 1920x1080 with most of the settings turned up.

You should try mining bitcoins on that rig. I'm not sure how it does on workstation GPUs though. Let me know how many Mhash/s you can do.

It is a bad build for gaming, do you agree? I didn't know he wasn't using it for gaming.
