Description

My first ever build, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with the site that helped me get to this point! Primary purpose is gaming!

I know there are a lot of white and black H440 builds out there, but I just loved the color scheme and look of them too much to pass up. To help differentiate mine, I added a custom fascia and backplate!

So far, I have loved every single thing about my new PC. I'm getting 60fps on Ultra settings with just about any game, and the GTX 970 has been absolutely wonderful. Had MSI made a black and white R9 390 or 390x, I would have jumped all over those, but they didn't.

I tried to make a solid parts list for anyone who might be interested in building something similar. Absolutely everything in the build is in my parts list, including some peripherals! If you're interested in a custom fascia or backplate, I can't recommend Seb enough! You can go to his site here: custom-acrylics.co.uk. He was awesome to work with!

I hope you guys enjoy!

Part Reviews

CPU

Has been lightning fast and has given me zero issues so far. I'm glad I didn't end up going with i7 as I don't think it would have been worth the price for my application! Can't recommend this enough!

CPU Cooler

I really wanted to get the Kraken, but the price was better for this, and it fit my needs a little better. It can get a little loud under load, but nothing too distracting! Keeps the temps low, and looks way better than an air cooler! Easy installation!

Motherboard

Fit the color scheme I was looking for, and had enough features for my build. The BIOS was absolutely awesome, and it was really easy to get going!

Memory

It's RAM, it's fast, and it looks good! 8GB is perfect, and I have room for an upgrade!

Storage

I didn't get the obsession with SSDs... That is until I booted with one. Just WOW! I love the 850 EVO, and it's just blazingly fast.

Storage

Fast enough for just about everything I have. Needed 1TB, and didn't want to fork out the cash for a massive SSD. Fits my needs perfectly!

Video Card

Just perfect. Everything I could have hoped for, and more. Yes, I could have gone with the Gaming 4G or a R9 390(x), but look at this thing. It fits perfect!

Case

In my opinion, the best looking case on the market. Cable management was awesome, and the PSU shroud is something I couldn't imagine living without. Perfect.

Power Supply

No issues, and more than enough power. Great stuff!

Monitor

It's no IPS, but 144hz is the way to go for sure! Once configured, the colors are actually pretty darn nice! If you're on the fence with this monitor, just stop thinking and buy it! Pretty decent price too!

Mouse

Best mouse on the market. That's all that really has to be said. Not a huge fan of the scroll wheel, but oh well!

Who cares if the H440 is used in a bunch of builds? You made it your own, and you did a great job!

+1 from a fellow H440 owner ;)

Nice color theme. I like how you incorporated it throughout your setup. Those speakers are amazing. I bought the first version years ago. And when those died, I bought em again. Best speakers for the money. Nice touch with the external drive. It doesn't stick out unless you're looking for it.

For a phone, it's pretty darn incredible, especially considering the lack of professional lighting or anything of the sort!

The trick to phone photography is natural lighting. For some reason, the photos look like crap if they aren't using natural lighting.

Yup. I had the window, and 5000K lights instead of the typical 2500K!
