Description

Some of the parts on here weren't exact because PCPartPicker didn't have them as options.

Also keep in mind, I built this PC over the course of the past year, the monitors being the newest addition, I just hadn't joined this website until now.

For example, here is the full list: AMD FX-9370 w/ Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (Dual fan, 120mm) Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Crucial 4x4gb DDR3-1600 Micron 128GB SSD Dell (Seagate) 900GB SAS (w/ PCI-e RocketRaid controller) XFX Radeon R9 380 8GB Video Card Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Antec 750watt PSU Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 3x AOC 2427W Monitors (mounted on a 50$ ebay triple monitor stand) Perixx PX-1100 Keyboard Gigabyte M6800 Mouse Turtle Beach PX3 Logitech Z-2300 Speakers 4x120mm fans along the bottom, 4x120mm fans along the top, 1x120mm fan in the rear, and 2x140mm fans in the front

So most of my build was eBay/craigslist since I couldn't afford full price parts. The Corsair tower I took a shot in the dark and offered 80$ thinking the guy would say no, but he said yes. All I had to do was pick it up. The AOC monitors I bought all new from BestBuy at 90$ each with 10$ warranties on all of them. They may not be the most amazing monitors but I didn't want to spend 1000$ on monitors. With the monitors, warranties, and stand I spent about 400$ after tax. I put 0$ for my speaker setup because it was sitting in my buddys attic for like 2 years from an old roomate as just the subwoofer and controller. I took the satellite speakers from another set with a blown subwoofer and boom, free speakers. Mounted above my triple monitors is a Dell all-in-one. That's for putting up maps for games like DayZ and I keep my work related emails/materials on that vs keeping anything on my gaming PC. Specs are below

Dell All in One i5-3330S @ 2.7GHz 6GB DDR3 1600 2TB Western Digital Black 23" Touch Screen Generic Bluetooth keyboard/mouse

Overall I can drive the 3 monitors on Ultra for older titles, but newer titles like Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 I'm running around high settings. If I'm in battlefield on one of the larger matches I may turn it down if I see FPS drops but usually that's just due to a video card update needed or something. 9 times out of 10 any issue I have is related to video drivers.

Part Reviews

Case

I love this case. It has TONS of room and if you're fan cooling it gives your huge heatsink and fan plenty of space to breathe.

Keyboard

For a black friday cheapo deal, this has been my favorite keyboard I've ever owned. It has a windows key lock which is AMAZING when gaming. Somehow I always manage to hit the windows key. The 3 color function is pretty cool too. It's kind of ugly but I like it overall.

Mouse

For the price, you can't beat this thing.

Headphones

I have to resync almost every time I use it but it works great.

There are games it's amazing for. There are some I just cut down to 1 monitor. For example, dayZ, Elite Dangerous, and Titanfall 2 its amazing. Some of the menus are upset by the resolution but you can work around it.

Stellaris is not so good on the 3 monitors, basically any game you cant move the layout around to stick to the center so the sides are just peripheral it can get frustrating. Some games (like Ghost in the Shell: Assault) are just better with 1 monitor since I sit so close. Doom is awful on 3 monitors unless you get 1600x1200 monitors since for some reason that resolution looks fine from the videos and photos I've seen.

+1 for the sheer cojones required to post a FX-93xx build with Zen right around the corner (we hope).

I forgot to add to my post, I built this about a year ago. I just joined this website so I posted my main build. Going for Zen next though.

One day I'll make the 2x4 look good, for now, it was a quick fix that worked out better than I thought. I would have guessed by now it would have started to warp or give.

$200 for a R9 380 in late 2016!? That is highway robbery.

This PC was built over the course of the past year. I picked up the R9 380 used in February of last year. 200 is what I paid for it at the time.

How has that pu not fried itself with a hyper 212? It recommends at least a 120mm aio.

120mm fans and 120mm AIO's aren't too far apart in performance. AIO is just a different style of fan cooling when you get down to it.

I was wondering the same thing.

Run the fans 100% all the time like I did on my fx 8320 when I had it at 4.7 :) only thing beating that is a 240mm aio or up. 120mm aio is for looks FYI. ;)

I have 1 fan on each side, and trust me, the 212 evo does WAY better than you think it would. I tried 2 AIO units that overheated almost immediately. Granted they were 120mm units and not the 240mm units, but I just don't trust watercooling either way. The 212 evo does great. The fans don't run at 100% all the time either.

I also have the entire case filled with fans. 4 120mm on top, 4 120mm on the bottom, 2 140mm in the front, 1 120mm in the rear. I'll update my build write up.

How your CPU has not burned your house down is beyond me. Nice build though!
