Build

Intel 9900k - RTX 2080

by toxicvenom67

Description

My new pc build. Went with 9900k and RTX 2080. I'm upgrading from a 4690k and a 970. Couldn't be happier. Entire build process went smooth!

Really good taste in parts and it looks super clean. That's a seriously awesome build.

Amazing build! I'm in love with this thing. Our builds are so similar yet I'm still jealous. Great stuff man!

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Really appreciate it, thank you! I saw your build not long ago and I really really like it. The sleek black, and the awesome looking black corsair fans

Malaysaian_One 2 points 4 months ago

holy heck this is gorgeous. I love the lighting and how it is used, 10//10

Hella sexy! How are your temps on the new i9? How you liking the RTX 2080?

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you! Haven't had time to mess with the 2080 yet but the cpu is just stock right now, temps are 27c idle.

ELIteGinger64 1 point 4 months ago

Thats not bad at all. Hopefully the 2080 treats you well, Ive been hearing that the TI's have a tendency to fail after a short period of time.

Nice!

Have the four-phase VRMs on that motherboard been an issue for you? Looking to buy that motherboard for myself and still on the fence about it.

GitSum 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

That was also my concern

I am on the verge of pulling the trigger on a very similar build - but with the Gigabyte z390 Aorus Master instead of the Asus Maximus XI Hero

In any case, well done

nurpp- 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah, some reviews are claiming that the 9900k in the Aorus Master can be 10-20 degrees cooler compared to the Hero under load! It's insane.

NishPat 2 points 3 months ago

Lovely man, I love it! I am looking something similar but in White H700i.

Surprised you didn't pair the i9 9900 with the RTX 2080 TI

relaxedfire 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Are the lights on the top fans from the Kraken itself or did you add LED rings? Want to achieve this same look! What fans are they?

Valtyr_ 1 point 2 months ago

NZXT - Aer RGB140

buddha1608 1 point 3 months ago

What cable extensions did you need to purchase?

This machine is so clean man!!!

shahab1361 1 point 3 months ago

Hi, is it possible to replace NZXT X62 with NZXT X72 to have a better cooling system?

shahab1361 1 point 3 months ago

Do you OC your pc? Don't you have any issue with the CPU temperature?

Broxx 6 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

The RTX and Dominator Platinum match perfectly! Very nice build

AliMohamad 1 point 2 months ago

Can the x62 handle the 9900k at 5ghz or higher

FivePercent 1 point 2 months ago

How's the Kraken x62 working out for you? any issues with CAM or anything?

DM39 1 point 1 month ago

Hey man. Did you face any problems when replacing fans on x62? I have read that they do not spin until you launch CAM. Help would be appreciated

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

No problems at all, I don't need cam to run the fans. They start spinning as soon as I boot pc. I mess with fan curves in bios and the fans are connected to the cooler cable itself and the rest of the fans in my case are connected to my motherboard. I didn't use any fan hub or anything like that either

DM39 1 point 1 month ago

Thank you for reply! If i understood right, you just connected new fans to same cable where stock kraken fans were (hub with 4pin first and 3pin rest) ?

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Yeah the x62 has a fan cable that could connect 4 fans. So all 4 fans on my x62 are connected to that cable on the cooler. I think one is a 4pin and the rest are 3pin.

seb1982 1 point 1 month ago

I absolutely love this build! Can I ask - how did you connect the AIO fans and case fans up? I'm considering building something very similar, and I can't see a separate fan controller in your part list (unless the Hue2 does this. I'm very confused about how this NZXT stuff bolts together! can you just use motherboard headers?

seb1982 1 point 1 month ago

Oh. I'm so sorry - please ignore this question! I've had your page open for a few days, and I've just seen you've replied to someone else about this!

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Hey! thanks for the comment, yeah the fans in the case are connected to motherboard and the ones on cooler are connected to the cooler.

But I came here to say some things about the nzxt products. Almost Everything works great out of the box and I haven't had any issues with the software but the NZXT AER RGB fans on top of the case had this rattle if I left them in PWM mode. Fixed it by going into bios and setting them to a constant speed and the rattle went away. I even took the fans out and checked them, everything installed correctly but still had the rattle at the certain rpm.

It rattled at around 900 rpm but I fixed it by having it run anything but 900. The rear fan does not have this problem so it seems it happens only when they're mounted in that top position. Not sure if the new AER RGB fans fix this but could be somewhat annoying if you buy them. Its an easy fix but it shouldn't happen.

seb1982 1 point 25 days ago

That's really useful info - thanks mate! I'll have a think about just getting some Asus Aura compatible RGB fans and ditching the Hue2, then..... ponders

Gerryfire56 1 point 23 days ago

hey man I know this is kinda late to ask but I have the same power supply as you and im about to buy the same motherboard too because I am redoing my crappy build into a custom water cooled beast I just wanted to know the exact cable lengths and cables you got from ensourced and I can give you my email if its easier to send it through there. Thanks so much!

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 2 points 22 days ago

Hey, I actually bought the Black Extension Set on Ensourced site, then bought a single 4pin CPU extension since the motherboard has a 4 and an 8pin for CPU

I think the extension set comes with fixed lengths but if you get separately you can get different lengths. But if you're looking to replace your stock psu cables entirely, I don't have measurements for that.

The extensions lengths im running (30cm 24pin) (30cm 8pin CPU) (30cm 4pin CPU) (40cm PCI-e)

Gerryfire56 2 points 22 days ago

Thanks so much man helps a lot

And why someone will choose intel over AMD and Ryzen now i dont get it at all, and also i want to hear it ? 2700X is 300$ that is 240$ saved, also the AMD mobo is also cheaper, and Ryzen is not affected by meltdown, but i guess some people dont know at all how bad intel is at this moment now... Also i prefer to buy next year Zen2 based CPU that will be hell more better then intel overall...

toxicvenom67 submitter 1 Build 3 points 4 months ago

I don't care about the money saved if I got AMD. I wanted intel so I got intel
